Professional attitude
I have seen others using the standards by applying current best practices in treating older people. They base their decisions on the treatment that they area to administer on older people based on the available evidence. They use information form case reports, scientific principles, and the opinion from experts. To guarantee autonomy wellness and comfort of the patient, a nurse is involved deal with their negative attitude about older people. the dignity and the autonomy of older adults are often being undermined in the healthcare setting. However, by nurses dealing with attitudes and having the right education, they are able to give the patient autonomy and conform to quality healthcare. Furthermore, I have seen nurses provide older people and their caregivers the chance of making their choices without any influence as a way of increasing their autonomy. To ensure the holistic wellbeing of the person and to have a person-centered care, nurses are involved in not addressing the present needs of the person which is insufficient. Still, they look at the person as being an entity comprised of the body, mind, and spirit. Attending to all these aspects is pivotal for the wellbeing of the patient.
As a nurse, I incorporate a professional attitude in the practices by ensuring that I possess a positive attitude towards older people. This includes letting them and their caregivers make their decisions concerning the treatment they receive. Affiliation, it is good to uplift their self-esteem in the nursing process. Furthermore, I make sure they feel accepted since most of them suffer from a lack of acceptance. One of the values that I put to practice is being honest and guarantee the dignity of the patients (Fahrenwald et al., 2005). I give the right formation without biases and making sure that they feel honored. I also manage my expectations towards them such that I do not rate them highly or underrate them when it comes to their ability to do things.
