The importance of education

“Education is life!” The importance of education goes beyond the classroom. Knowledge gained in class is useful in life outside the formal school setting. To begin with, an educated individual knows how to read and write–two necessary skills across professions. The implied significance is, therefore, that being educated is the essential requirement in recruitment into various occupations. Being recruited into a job guarantees one payment in the form of salaries as well as allowances, which constitutes one’s financial stability, hence a comfortable life. S/he can afford basics in life. Education can also facilitate improvement and development of the following: morals, values, character, and ideologies; as well as personality, concepts which are very important for survival in society. Education also creates an avenue for the transmission of cultures as well as the norms of a community. The sole formal platform for the transfer of the aspects mentioned above is education.  Education enhances the development and sustenance of national as well as international peace (Smith et al., 2017). Training involves stakeholders from all walks of life, which allows interaction as well as the sharing of ideas and values. Peace is, in turn, developed as the stakeholders create a sense of brotherhood amongst themselves. Education-it must be agreed-constitutes the fundamental pillar towards sustaining a society with progressive mindsets.
