Alternate possibilities and moral responsibility

Introduction

Moral responsibility entails freewill. It is the desire to do what one wanted to do, even in the presence or absence of other duties. An alternate possibility is acting against the free will, or rather, being morally responsible for an action done. However, it wasn’t the desired action, or rather, the alternative was done.

The case of voting for the democratic party clears shows the practice of moral responsibility as long as the voter intended to vote for that party. The chip installed in the voter’s brain to vote for the democratic party against his/her will brings the subject of alternate possibility. The first case shows the free will of the voter to vote for the democratic party.  Certain conditions might compel someone to act against his will, as evidenced in the second scenario. In this case, the voters chose the alternate possibility without their will.

Voting for the democratic party is a free will for those who had a moral responsibility. On the other hand, it wasn’t a free action to the voters who do against their will. The voter who had the intent to vote for the democratic party is responsible for his actions, but the latter isn’t. as harry states, “the fact that a person could not have avoided doing something is a sufficient condition of his having done it.”

Moral responsibility is compatible with determinism in that one mans action is because he wanted to it, and there is no way he could have done it otherwise. The free will compels a person to be responsible for his actions because, under no circumstances, he could have done them otherwise.

Conclusion

The democratic party by implanting chips on the brains of the voters brings about the alternate possibility and moral responsibility into conflict. Despite alternative option being an illusion, some conditions might invoke it to happen as it is the free will

The history of Negros, Black Americans, and low-class people cannot be completed without mentioning the efforts of King Martin Luther. It is found that Americans are not the white nation as a whole, but it originates from Black people, and later on, it became the land of white people. As the white people came to rule over America, they started discrimination and looked upon by black people. The black people had to suffer in every field of life, including jobs, education, rights, and business, etc. there was not a single field of profession that was open by black people without terms and conditions. It was the hardest phase of life for them, and they went into inferior complex and anxiety. It has been observed that black people started hating themselves because the whole nation was not ready to accept them as a part of their country, and they had to listen to a lot of negative comments daily. The color of skin became the merit to judge ad to classify humans into different classes. It was a ridiculous act to suppress the rights of black people and to give extra importance to white people.

Meanwhile, there came a lot of leaders to save the black nation from oppression and spent their lives in raising the voice for the rights of their fellows. Among them, Martin Luther has the Name at the top because he ran a long chain of attempts and efforts to encourage the black people that they are essential, and they have the same right to live in the country. He was of the view that color and creed can never be the criteria to judge someone’s character and capabilities. He led a battle of freedom and raised his voice at every possible forum to get the rights of black people.

During his marvelous speech at Washington in 1963, he said that he is happy to join the black people in their freedom movement. He is sure that this movement will be written in golden words in history, the main aim of speech was the give awareness to people that American authorities have already signed a contract where white and black people are equal in terms of jobs and freedom. Still, even after hundred years of that contract., the black man is not free, and he is not allowed to get the role of his desire, the house he wants to live in, and the right of freedom to express his views about anything. He said that the authorities and governing bodies of today have forgotten that the pioneers of America signed the magnificent constitution and made a promise that this nation will own every citizen. All of you will be its heir. This promise encouraged us to raise the voice for our rights, and there is no harm in it. The governing bodies have given the message that the movement of freedom is not smooth, but there is a long era of efforts, and attempts are still on the way (King, 1963).

In another speech, King Martin Luther said that the world is busy in getting rights for the ignorant classes like that of women and slaves. It is the utmost desire of all the communities that equality should be given to people. The color or creed should not judge them, and if this equality is not provided, then it is your right to raise your voice and to get your rights. If you will keep sitting and will not even try a single inch to get the things to don, how can you expect this cruel world will give you your rights?. He conveyed a message to his followers that you people have to remember one thing only in your life that you have to keep moving in your life. You have to keep trying in your life, and you have to make attempts till the last breath of your life to get the freedom. He said that our battle and movement would not go waste, but it will create ease for our future generation, and they will not have to suffer from the oppressive suffocation, and they will be free to join hands with white children and will have lunch together one day (Gaher, 2019).

Martin Luther has been considered as a real king in the life of black people as he leads his whole life in getting the rights of people. He led the war for fairness and to make humanity win. He knew that there would be hardships on the way, there will be a lot of allegations on him on advocating the civil movement of rights and he might be put into jail. All the things happened according to expectations, but he could not lose heart. He did not stop his attempts, but the attacks of oppression and cruelty filled him with more passion and power. He changed the lives of black people; he gave a new ideology to them and told them that they are not inferior to anyone. They need to modernize their thinking, and they need to know that they also own the country as those of other people. He endorsed the vision in his followers that forgiveness and modesty are the features that every human being should have. Because of this, if anyone attempts to murder the self-respect or your freedom, get up, try hard and get your freedom as it is one of the biggest blessings of life indeed (RIVERS, 2019).
