Personal Leadership Philosophy (PLP) is a guiding principle that consists of the values and beliefs of a person. These values can help one solve different types of challenges in life. These principles can assist one in decision making.
PERSONAL LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY
Leadership priorities
As a senior nurse leading the junior nurses, I have several priorities that I consider to be very important. My leadership priorities are time management, communication, patient satisfaction, excellence in nursing, and satisfaction of the staff. To have the ability to improve the experiences of patients, I need to understand all the factors which influence the nursing environment (Messina and Wilde, 2017). As a nurse, I also prioritize making other nurses satisfied.
As a leader, the junior nurses expect me to be honest and also to be a good time manager. They expect me to provide the necessary materials to foresee excellence in nursing care and patient satisfaction. On the other hand, I expect them to be committed to their work and maintain high levels of hygiene in the hospital. I also expect them to be punctual in their duties.
Personal strengths are important and can help in leadership. I believe that two are better than one, and I should engage my juniors when making decisions to achieve the best. I can create awareness and pass important messages. This is possible because of the good communication skills I have. I am also responsible and accountable for any single resource in our hospital. This ensures there is no wastage. The other thing is that I am receptive to learning, and this helps to improve my work individually. I am always on watch out to restore things into order when they go astray. All these ensure better leadership is achieved. (Weiss and Tappen, 2019).
I am a committed person, and my main as a nurse is making sure patients have received quality care. I always approach my day to day with positivity. I am an action-oriented person. In case of emergencies and sudden incidences, I will respond promptly because my main goal as a nurse is to provide quality care to patients. Lastly, I have excellent interpersonal skills, and these skills have assisted me in striking a balance between my needs and those of the patients.
