Introduction
African-American study is the analysis of accounts, achievements, and the outlining of recent past and paints that are a complex and comprehensive portrait of black America since 1965. It has been crafted to stir deep reflection of how far people are toward racial equality since the civil rights era, what it means to black people, and why despite these issues still being on the rise, they choose to elect a black president.
Discussion
A metaphor description has been used to raise the emotional response of how race has divided America due to their difference in perception, color, and beliefs. It is the analogy of two mighty rivers in amazon that flows side by side to form the Amazon River. One is black, and the other is a sandy color. They merge into one but run side by side without mixing due to differences in temperature, speed, and water density.
The subject idea of Brookings institute panel discussion was to highlight an important understanding of issues related to the history of America, the current state of race relations, and motivations towards raising up to build a perfect union.
African-American studies are very significant to students and other researchers as they give an insight on a better understanding of the meaning of race and various dynamics associated with racial, African-Americans contribution towards the American culture, introduce many of their views of history, social, political, literature, art, and music. It also helps students have a broader context of understanding the African-Americans’ experiences in their native land Africa or in their diaspora life.
In the context of the discussion, different opinions on the contributors and effectors were outlined to give clear points of view or the turning points that were so vital towards the first success of racial equality, which includes; the question on how far Americans are in the realization of the laws. Africans, despite having the voting right, they believed that having equality alone was not satisfying. They needed jobs, quality housing, better schools, and an end to police brutality. However, they adopted new strategies such as popular music in films and television shows aiming to achieve their goals.
Black Americans contributed more towards race equity by accepting their color and embracing it and propelling some of the blacks into reaching higher mobility, allowing them to join the middle class and gained access to good rights to live anywhere. This brought about social interactions at homes, businesses, schools, and politics hence creating a bond between them.
An examining factor on the obstacles that hindered them towards the full realization of racial equity was set into place. Black Americans were criminalized and associated with cracks of drugs that lead to more harsh treatment and which could even land one in jail without committing any crime.
The last factor was how, despite the cases of race being on, the Americans came to choose a black president. Obama’s victory brought hope to all Africans as they went to celebrate their time of freedom. Black people are proud whenever they see a black figure making development; they feel encouraged, and the image of their culture leads them to embrace equity after all.
Conclusion.
Black Americans are extraordinary examples of the racial success and are protagonists of history creation in a manner that they educate, provoke and motivate other people towards raising up to work in building a perfect union in the future.
