A brief rundown of sunglasses Layoners

A brief rundown of sunglasses Layoners: In 1752, James Asycough advertised the double-hinged spectacles for the first time. Due to that reason, full credit for the use of tinted lenses for protection against radiation goes to this man. About 2000 years ago, the Chinese also used a tinted glass, but their focus was to ward off the evil spirits, not for the protection of the eye. Ayscough felt that lenses that were untinted expose eyes to offensive light, which is very dangerous. Due to this reason, many small and large brands were introduced from time to time for the making of sunglasses, but Layoneres sunglasses is one of the quality brands regarding sunglasses. It’s a Slovenian online fashion brand that is based in Mangas. Layoners launched their first collection of glasses (Layoners sunglasses) back in 2018. In 2019 they added on to that by introducing swimwear for women. The primary tag line of this company (Sunglasses Layoners) is that “We are selling affordable and trendy sunglasses.”

Worldwide standardization of sunglasses:

There are no particular quality standards available for sunglasses because the International Standardization Organization tried many times to produce standards but hasn’t been succeeded yet. The period from 1970 to 1980 is considered as an active period, during this period, ISO standards for eye protection were produced, but still, sunglasses standards are unpublished. An anonymous person worked on a committee draft of sunglasses, which is available, but it can’t reach publication again. To satisfy approaches of different nations, it is framed in a unified way matching everyone’s choice. In association with the European standards system, CEN ISO work on standardization of sunglasses is again resumed in 1990. Following the excellent work of the CEN committee in 1993, Ophthalmic Optics TC85, the agreement ended up on a collaboration between the ISO task group and CEN. The first joint meeting regarding this was held in Munich in February 1993. After that, the TCI72/SC7 sunglass committee met independently of CEN in April 1993 in Birmingham for the preparation of upcoming joint sessions with CEN. A CEN/ISO collective working group met firstly in October 1993 in Manchester, in March 1994 in the city of Braunschweig, then in June 1994 in Helsinki and finally in a meeting in London in 1995 they finalized a standard but that was called as European standard not ISO international standard.

The expectation of customers from sunglasses:

Protect our eyes from glare:

Most people expect that the sunglasses will protect them from the sun glare, but before this, we have to understand what actually glare is.

Types of glare:

  • Disability glare
  • Reflective glare
  • Discomfort glare

Disability glare:

This type of glare takes place due to the presence of light in the eye due to which full retinal image is not formed. Scattering of light in the media of the eye is also a significant cause. It also can happen due to the fluorescence of the crystalline lens. The contrast of the image which is focused becomes diluted. Hence it makes the objects which we see less visible. Tinted lenses are not able to stop this kind of glare because such lenses in which scattered light get attenuated; they also mitigate the same portion of the image. Due to the presence of fluorescence property in sunglasses, they can be used to reduce disability glare. Contact lenses, sunglasses, and spectacles, mainly which can absorb 340-360nm wavelengths will have the feature of reducing this type of glare because these are the fluorescence producing wavelengths.

Reflected glare:

This kind of glare usually happens because of polished surfaces like the water surface and glossy page of a magazine. Light becomes fully plane-polarized or partially polarized when it gets reflected from a dielectric coating. An adequately oriented polarized lens can absorb reflected glare. Mostly reflected glare arises from horizontal surfaces, and it can be controlled by using sunglasses with polarized lenses. In other words, polarized lenses are more effective when glare appeared from vertical surfaces and less effective when it produced from the metallic surface.

Discomfort glare:

It’s the third and final type of glare. In this type, we usually feel pain sensation or discomfort from bright objects or light sources that come in the plane of vision. To relate physical characteristics, pits and Kleinstein may methods have been devised. For the quantification of discomfort glare, the expression which is used mostly is given below.

Where,

G = Potential for glare production or Glare Index

Ls = Luminance of the glare source

Lf = Luminance of background

W = Solid angle subtended by glare source and line of sight

While a, b and c are constant
