A REVIEW on patient-safety by improving the quality of service delivery and maintaining professionalism
There is a need for a robust strategic plan to achieve the goals for the proposed Evidenced-Based Practice because of the organization culture challenges such as leadership style. The objective of the intervention plan is to make teamwork and collaboration. They will foster the implementation of the changes. The proposal aims to ensure that patient-safety by improving the quality of service delivery and maintaining professionalism. Another goal of the intervention plan is training and innovation.
The outcomes that the intervention plan could have to include the following. First, one the program would measure is that in at least six months after the initialization of CBT, the selected patients’ group would record zero incidences of the significant symptoms associated with the mental health disorder that was afflicting them previously. Such an outcome would signal an improvement in their resiliency to the causative factors of their mental health problems. The second one intervention would measure is that in at least six months after the initialization of CBT, the selected patient group would have exuded mental health-promoting factors. The third outcome that the intervention would measure is that in at least six months after the initialization of CBT, the selected patient group would display satisfaction with the intervention.
The effectiveness of medication to manage mental health disorders among the elderly population is not yet known. Following resources will be required to implement the change proposal. These resources include trained personnel to attend to the elderly population and supplies for administering drugs. Also, unique rooms for mentally ill patients and electronic record maintenance for checking the response of patients to medication are required (Williams &Boren2018).
The process to evaluate the intervention will be as follows. The outcomes will be measured at a functional level where various activities of daily living will be used to indicate good mental health. Barthel Index will be fundamental in the level of measure. The quality of life in the form of a Short Form of 36 health survey question as proposed by Hays et al., 1993 will be used to measure the quality of life for elderly community dwellers. It is expected that pharmaceutical interventions will have a short-term impact on mental health care compared to psychosocial. This is because medical interventions provide an immediate solution to mental and behavioural control when compared to psychosocial interventions (Verbeek et al., 2013).
