As a person who has confronted different security issues, I have great enthusiasm for changing the administration of security not only at the domestic but also at the international level. I especially have a significant interest in improving the efficiency of homeland security and intelligence, cybersecurity, and corporate security outcomes. Out of my experiences, I am persuaded that the system in place for handling security matters at each of these three levels is adequate. While this is the case, I am well familiar with the frustrations and despairs endemic to some areas of administering security matters. I am convinced that increasing the efficiency of security management can indeed make the difference between the current way of doing things and the desired status quo. Therefore, I am applying for Professional Security Studies-Civil Security Leadership Management and Policy (D.Sc.) so that I can pursue my life-mission, which is to increase the productivity in the way different security goals are accomplished.

I have made considerable inroads towards accomplishing my goal. Foremost, I have attained the educational requirements. For instance, I have a Master of Science and a Post Master’s Certificate in Human Resources Management and Labor Relations. Furthermore, I have a Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology, a Master of Science degree in Environmental Technology and Sustainability, and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Technology and Sustainability. As if not enough, I attained a Post Master’s Certificate in Facilities Management. Albeit in different constituent schools, I attained all these degrees from the New York Institute of Technology. My desire to pursue one Master’s degree after another is fueled by my educational goal of becoming an accepted and productive member of the research community. I would like others to acknowledge my vast contributions through research papers, articles, and media outlets.

Other than my educational endeavors, I have also prepared myself significantly to accomplish my goal by gaining vast professional experience. Fundamentally, I have 17 years of law enforcement experience serving as a Chief Petty Officer, Master-At-Arms in the US Navy. I have been deployed in five combat missions. The most notable has been in Iraq and Afghanistan. During these missions, I have undertaken a series of duties. One of the most standout duties was serving as an Active Shooter while I was in Afghanistan. Central to this duty was to co-authoring, recreating, streamlining, and supervising the Active Shooter and Operations Security (OPSEC) Programs. Besides, I established points of contact for every facility that became a template for all the 63 structures. Besides, I contributed towards the reduction of the degree of internal threats, with the most notable being the ability of the insurgents to engage the Coalition Forces. I achieved this outcome by rendering advice on patrolling techniques to the local police forces. More to this, I have played several law enforcement duties. For example, I have overseen land and waterborne security, flight line and aircraft security, maritime security and platform protection, and strategic cargo and weapon security. I have as well performed customs, corrections, detainees, and protective service operations. Additionally, I have directed force protection, law, and physical security enforcement, and organized and assisted in providing training to at least 42,000 personnel in physical security, force protection, weaponry proficiency, and law enforcement.

It is also paramount to note that I have served as a Fire Arms Instructor and a Range Safety Officer and Guardian Angel. At the same time, I have played a crucial part in qualifying more than 6,080 personnel in firearms training. Still, while serving the force protection mandate, I have come up with a series of plans for force protection and physical security enhancement of installations, facilities, personnel, and property. Also, part of the force protection mandate was to assist commands in analyzing terrorist threats as well as setting up the necessary defensive measures. I have also assisted in upgrading the surveillance systems for numerous sites. Furthermore, I have served as a Non-Tactical Vehicle Manager for various units. In this position, I have assessed carefully and acknowledged the need for overhauling the fleet vehicles, especially those worth at least $7,800,000 for safer, gas efficient up-armored standard SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles). In addition to this, I have been involved in investigations. Consequently, I have gathered information besides performing preliminary inquiries as a First-Responder to disaster and crime scenes.

Out of the duties outlined above and numerous others not mentioned in this personal statement, I have had several revolutionary accomplishments. For example, I was hand-picked five times to support Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. Another notable accomplishment has involved setting up the very first Master-At-Arms Detail to reinforce a Special Operations Detachment deployed between 2009 and 2010 to Iraq. It is also worth mentioning that I have maintained 100 percent accountability of assets valued at least $125,00,000 during different deployments overseas. Moreover, I have been personally responsible for more than $70,000,000 of command equipment with no loss, deficiency, or damage reported. I have as well assisted in processing at least 1,081 awards, 675 letters of release with zero discrepancies, and 551 requests for leave. The Inspector-General has commended me for standout supervisory management and actions. Another exceptional accomplishment is the successful planning and execution of over 560 outside-the-wire missions. Part of these included 6,500 movements through the air and ground traveling more than 75,000 miles. Most remarkably, no casualties, incidents, or injuries were reported.

My long experience and educational trajectory have provided me with immense and enhanced transferrable skills. For example, I have the ability to analyze and solve problems holistically. Moreover, I have gained tremendous interpersonal and leadership skills, not mentioning excellent project management and organization competencies. What is more, I have become immense in researching and managing information. I have also developed desirable self-management and work habits besides becoming a model communicator both at the written and oral level. I have a strong belief that these skills will offer me an opportunity to pursue the Professional Security Studies-Civil Security Leadership Management and Policy (D.Sc.) more seamlessly. My goal is to advance my knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research besides acquiring a sophisticated understanding of the way to become a revolutionary leader in the area of cybersecurity, homeland security, and corporate security. I am looking forward to taking up high-level roles in private industry and government sector as well as in education settings with a focus on blending research and practice, focusing on security matters. In this way, I believe that I will gain a strong foothold in my desire to change the way security issues are addressed at the local and international levels.
