What work of art, music, science, mathematics, or literature has surprised, unsettled, or challenged you, and in what way?
The work of art which has mostly challenged me is the music. I love singing and believe that I have a talent to explore in the music department. However, the work of music has surprised me, and it’s a big challenge. There is a lot of effort and time needed to put in the music industry. Consistency in practice has indeed shocked me. It is not as simple as taking literature lesson and memorizing the notes.
Music requires creativity which is one part of arts. A musician needs to have art skills to help them in delivering their message through the song. However, it is challenging to perform music since it requires physical and emotional control and exactness of the highest order. Thus, for a music class, one can only enjoy through giving up more time for practices to make it perfect.
University offers forums for creativity and trainers who help the student to increase their competency. Mathematics and literature are not that much challenging as students have to sit in class and listen to the lectures to acquire knowledge on the topic. The difficulty is faced during exam period whereby contemplating mentally is hard leading to poor performances. Music is art, science, and literature as one has to combine all of them in the stage performance.
The challenge is common since one has to see and think of what to compose, understand the content and then express it in the shortest time possible. When we look at subject like literature and art, it is easy for the student to memorize teacher’s notes in the last minute and still pass the exam. However, music needs ample time since it is intellectually engaging and requires one to use the brain to think in different ways at the same time. It would take time to bring these ideas together and coherently back them up to make a full meaning.
