Adolescence
Adolescence is a critical phase that is better defined as the change from childhood to adulthood. At this point, everything is changing in the body: ranging from physical, emotional, and social aspects. The physical attributes develop quickly. They grow mentally, and they are volatile emotionally. Primarily, during this phase, individuals portray pompous idealism. Put simply, they think highly of themselves. As a result, they are prone to disregarding advice from others (Feldman). Additionally, adolescents possess the notion that every situation and activity they partake in should turn out perfectly. Ideally, this is impossible.
Similarly, adolescents are very critical individuals. In most situations, they tend to find fault in other people’s activities (Feldman). However, they do not like it when other people criticize them. They have volatile tempers, and they get irked easily, more so when they get corrected by adults.
Personal fable denotes the idea that adolescents feel unique and special. This feeling gets into their mind that they imagine that they are exempt from the problems and difficulties in life. However, the problems still affect them (Ausubel). This concept pushes them to undertake risks and experiment with things like alcohol and other activities that put them at risk.
Imaginary audience is a misconception that adolescents possess that everyone around them watches and keeps an eye on what they are doing. They hold the belief that they are the center of attention, which may not be the actual possibility.
