An investigation that was geared to resolve a cold blood murder.

The Case:

John Hobble was one of the sons of Mrs. Margaret Hobble. He was single and lived alone in an apartment in a secluded neighborhood in North Liberty, Iowa. He had a van that he used to do his business transactions, and it was known that he traded in Marijuana. It took John Hobble’s mother over four weeks trying to call John, and his phone was going unanswered.

A panic-stricken mother had to call Sherriff to get to check on the apartment. When the Police got into the studio, they found the door opened and found John Hobble Dead and covered as if he was asleep watching TV in the living room. They also found that there were rolls of marijuana in the living room. From the natural looks, he had been shot twice in the back of the head, and the body had started decomposing. There was no evidence of forceful entry.

When the lead Investigator led by Douglas Vannoy, Special Investigator Wade Lassoer and Attorney Linda Paulson, checked the room, It was found that the Pistol, which the most cherished Gold Pistol was missing and other gun collections and paraphernalia including Johns cherished 3-year-old Dog Husky.

It was however, noted that the dog had been identified earlier in January by a neighbour who had found it roaming in the streets in January when the roads were muddy.

The Autopsy report revealed that John Hobble had been killed before his body was found at the crime scene in January 22. This was corroborated with the phone call messaging that was going unanswered, getting to the answering phone machine.

The critical task for the Investigators was to unravel who committed the Murder?

The Investigation:

The Investigators questioned Johns friends as follows:

Michael Carten- This guy was a good friend with John, He was also dealing with Narcotic business however there was no evidence that linked him to the murder.

Andy Rich – When the investigators went to Andys house, they found he had a gun and several ammunitions. On forensic investigation of the ammunition they found that they resembled the ammunition used to kill John Hobble. They took the rounds to FBI and checked forensics however it turned that the atomic composition of the bullets varied from the exact copy used in the murder.

Andy Rich It was found those three days after the suspected murder day, he had travelled to Wyoming and later Texas country driving his car Together with Sharon Schneider.

When the investigators checked the car they found scratch marks that looked like the dog lick and hair.

They collected these samples and went to investigate further. It’s been proven that the nose trails of dogs differ in their DNA compositions and every Dog is unique. This however did not link the murder convict.

John Hobbles Dog was taken for more investigation.

Sharon Schneider– Sharon was Andy Rich’s fiancée and they were living together. Sharon was also involved in Narcotics business, and illegal gun sales. It was found that they were very close friends with John and most often they would visit each other, to distribute the guns and narcotics.

When She was questioned about the character of Andy Rich she said that he had ambition to be a hit man and to be great tough guy. She said that he is also a humaniser and a guy with questionable dealings.

Andy Richs Friend 1- When the investigators asked Andy rich where he had gone after the incident the investigators discovered that one of Andy Rich friends in Texas had in his custody of a customised gun that resembled Johns and that this had been sold to him to clear the debts in their dealings, this made them to check the contents when they discovered that the merchandise delivered contained hair like substance.

They couldn’t do a DNA as it was a near impossibility as times had elapsed. However they were able to

Andy Richs Friend 2- In Texas his second friend who had been sold ammunition disclosed the box that contained ammunition and found a note with the handwriting, The Investigators were able to verify that those handwritings contained resembled Johns and that the box of Ammunition was taken from John’s house.

Usually the Mitochondria in a cell are unique to every individual and are passed from the mother to the children. The hair that was picked from Andy’s Friend was used exploratory to get to nail the suspects.

On analysis of the DNA sequence of the mitochondria found on the hair of Johns Dog and that found on the cache containing the customised gun, It was discovered by Polymerase Chain Reaction a sequencing tool that can be able to analyze the glycoproteins contained. With this match, Andy Rich was arrested and arraigned in court.

Confession

When Andy Rich was arraigned in court he confessed to the murder and was interested in Johns Money and Drugs.

Sentencing

Andy Rich was sentenced for 35 years in jail for the murder of John Hobble.
