Cultism is a phenomenon that began several years back. Most religious cults are associated with Satan. I most cults, people usually offer sacrifices. The sacrifices that people are either personal or family-related. A majority of cults demand generally to offer a person’s soul or blood sacrifice. Dr. Faustus is one individual who practiced a form of cultism. Faustus offered his soul to the devil so that he can gain material possession. After several years in the cult, the renown felt that he was tired of serving the devil. In late years into the cult, he tries to reconcile with God so that he be saved from the devil’s life. However, the devil becomes bitter with Faustus for wanting to live. Faustus experiences some difficulties while trying to run from the cult. Two texts discuss Dr. Faustus’ involvement with a cult, the A, and B texts. Thug notes covered the A text by Marlowe. Therefore, it is essential to analyze Dr. Faustus’ life in cultism and lessons to the contemporary world.

Dr. Faustus was relaxing I his reading room, bored while at the same time reading a book. Due to boredom, he calls his servant, Wagner, into the reading room (0:40). He orders his servant to bring the two magician boys Valdes and Cornelius to him. He is sure that the two magicians can help him learn how to make wealth (0:53). After several attempts of magic, a demon by the name Methostathalis appears in the room. Dr. Faustus becomes exited by the demon’s appearance. He asks the demons to do him some favor when the devil returns to hell. The favor Dr. Faustus asked the demon is to go and ask the devil if they can make a deal (1:12). After sometimes, the devil appears, and Faustus asks the devil if he trades his soul for material possession. The demon quickly agrees to make a deal with Faustus. In the agreement, Dr. Faustus was given 24 years to live, after which he would offer his soul to Satan. In return, Dr. Faustus will live 24 years, having some powers given to him by the devil. Faustus and the demon agree, and the deal between the two is sealed. Dr. Faustus enter into the deal by giving his blood offering. Dr. Faustus is then given the much power he needed and lives for the 24 years he was promised.

After living for the promised 24 years with the powers, it now came a time for Dr. Faustus to offer his soul to the devil as the contract had dictated (1:52). Faustus feels like he does not want to give away his soul. Therefore, Faustus tries to seek repentance from God bur God says no to Dr. Faustus. Whenever he tries to seek forgiveness from God, the demon keeps on appearing and discourages Faustus from going about his repentance. Faustus immediately forgets his mission and continues with his worldly dealings. The demon decides to take Faustus through some secrets occurring in the universe. The two go to the Vatican, where they become invisible and mess the Pope (2:14). They also move to the residence of the German ruler. The German ruler asks Faustus to use his power to bring back Alexander the great, which Faustus does with much ease. Also, Faustus starts to engage in the business of horse selling. He sells a horse to a man. However, the horse turned into hay when it got wet (2:45). Therefore, Faustus used his satanic power to con the horse buyer. After using all his magic for that while, Faustus returns to repent again. However, the demon catches with him, and he is taken to hell.

The story about Dr. Faustus is raising many controversies when it comes to the life of a Christian. Dr. Faustus goes to seek forgiveness from God, but God says no to Faustus. The story goes against the Christian believes that God can forgive any sin.  Dr. Faustus uses his power to mess with the life of the people of God. For instance, Faustus uses his power and becomes invisible. Later Dr. Faustus attacks the Pope in the Vatican church. Also, Faustus steals money from the horse buyer. He uses his magic to create a horse that turns into hay after becoming wet. The life of Dr. Faustus indicates how people in the contemporary world use satanic power to acquire wealth. Besides, the story illustrates how satanic powers can prevent a person from reuniting in faith with God. From the text, it is clear that the end of all Satanic dealings is going to hell. The same way Dr. Faustus was taken to hell by the demons is how people engaging satanic cults will be taken to hell during the end times.

On the whole, it is essential to analyze Dr. Faustus’ life in cultism and lessons to the contemporary world. From the discussions above, it is evident that Dr. Faustus sold his soul to the devil so that he can be given powers.
