Animal rights
Introduction
Just as human beings are entitled to human rights animals should also have their own rights this is because many animals suffer mistreatment in the hands of human beings. A stipulation of their rights is necessary to protect the animals and also to evade the calamity of animal extinction. Another benefit of giving animal rights is to protect the welfare of the society we live in. this not only protects the animals but also the people around because if a person takes their fury and anger out on animal there is a big chance they can do that to another person.
First, the extent of suffering is the crucial aspect that gives any being the right to equal consideration. All animals suffer they feel fear, anxiety, frustration, loneliness and also a pleasure. This is very alike to human beings hence it clearly shows that animals suffer to the same degree and extent of humans. Secondly, animals should have the right in order to protect them from the abuse of human power. Most human beings exploit and cause other animals suffering because are more powerful and superior to them. Thirdly, animal life has a value hence animals should have rights such right to life. Human beings have lowered the quality of animal life making it valueless. Fourthly, all animals should have rights because currently there is mistreatment of animals according to their species, speciesm is unjust.
Rights are ethical principles which can only be given to a being with choice and reason. Animals do not have morals they only act on self-instinct predation is their only way for survival. A lion is not considered immoral for killing and feeding on a zebra or even man because that’s its inborn reflexes and its way of surviving in the ecosystem. It is not right to give a lion the right to life and then the lion kills you later.
