4.) “Transformational leadership is a theory of leadership in which the leader engages with others and creates a connection that raises the level of motivation and morality in both the leader and the follower. 6.) “Most research on leadership has focused on organizational outcomes of a specific leadership style. The present study demonstrates that daily fluctuations in transformational leadership may also influence employees’ work experience. Employees become more engaged in work, when their supervisor is able to boost their optimism through his/her transformational leadership style. (Hayati, Charkhabi, & Naami, 2014)
The authors are commenting on their recent study which looked at different leadership styles, specificaly transformational and transactional. The employees responded in a more positive way to transitional type leaders versus the more direct transactional type. When the employees felt more appreciated at work their engagement was higher.
This relates to my thesis statement by reinforcing that the transformational leadership style influences employee engagement which increases retention.
