Being a global citizen

Being a global citizen means being actively aware of issues and events going on all around the world, understanding what they entail, and actively doing my part in regards to them. From this course, I have learned that, in my way, I can take action to better our world. It does not necessarily have to be big or require a lot of resources, but can have a ripple effect if communicated effectively

Why do you feel connected to this topic?

The topic I feel most connected to is the environment because I view it as standard for all cadres of people. We all have the environment around us and can do something to better it regardless of our social or economic standing. Taking action as small as planting more trees can have a significant effect in years to come.

How can contributing toward this cause benefit yourself and others?

Communicating the importance of caring for the environment to the community, starting with family and friends, is the first step towards change. Working with others increases the chances of getting the message out there and garners more support. Being mindful of our environment and doing something to ensure its continuity means that our generation and those to come would have a thriving planet.

Explain the relationship between your communication skills and your ability to contribute toward this cause.

My ability to contribute toward this cause is dependent on having excellent communication skills. I would need to observe the environment around me to identify the need, then clearly and confidently communicate the importance of the cause. Considering my target audience and being open to receiving feedback on the matter would help me know what steps we can all take to better our planet.

How can your communication skills be enhanced to better align with your role as a global citizen?

Asking and accepting positive reviews from friends regarding my communication skills and working on them over time can help me better play my role as a global citizen by enabling me to clearly and concisely get information to provide and gain insight on issues happening around the world.

What is the biggest takeaway you have gained from this course?

My biggest takeaway is that change, whether big or small is meaningful and that I have a role to play to make our world more sustainable.
