Question 1

Gospel means good news. In the new testament gospels develops Jesus teaching that develop within the first four books of the new testament. The various gospel books include Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The teachings develop through a story that develops insight on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In relation, the gospel books develop good news through the victory Jesus acquired after conquering death and sins.

Question 2

The development of the book of Matthew follows a specific order which was outlined by Matthew who serves as the author of the book. The book follows four main sections that is prologue that seeks to introduce Jesus upon which Matthew illustrated the relationship between God and Jesus like that of a father and a son (Matthew 1-4). Secondly, Matthew develops insight on Jesus teachings more so through the subtopic sermon on the mount. In this section, Matthew outlines Jesus teachings on Christianity and discipleship through the beatitude’s teachings and the teachings on how to conduct the Lord’s prayer (Matthew 5-9). In the third section, Matthew outlines the list of Jesus discipleship and develops a study on mission development. In relation, Matthew discusses Jesus teaching on the conduct of a disciple while in a mission (Matthew 10). Similarly, Matthew develops Jesus teachings in parables (Matthew 13). Among the key parables featured include the parable of the sower, the parables of the mustard seed and the parable of the hidden treasure. In addition, Matthew develops a section to feature on church development upon which Jesus developed guidance on how church leaders ought to guide their followers and on the conduct of church members (Matthew 14-18) (Peterson, 2010). Also, the section develops teaching on the kingdom of heaven more so the requirements that one should fulfill to secure a place in the kingdom. Matthew also features the suffering that Jesus incurred in his end times (Matthew 23-25). Under this segment he develops a study on judgement development and the need for Christians to preserver the persecution developed upon them since they will get inherit the kingdom of God upon the second coming of Jesus. Lastly, Matthew develops an epilogue part that serves as a conclusion of the book.

Question 3

Synoptic gospels consist of books of the bible which develop similar messages and have assume a similar order in event development. in relation to the new testament Matthew, Mark and Luke develop similar message and have similarities in event development. In return, the books are referred to as synoptic gospels (Hetzler, 2019). Synoptic books help develop a deeper of the gospel developed within the three books. In this regard, the books serve help clarify the details developed within each of them. Furthermore, the books help outline the events that might have been left out in the development of one epistle.

The time of event occurrence within the bible gets developed in four main categories that is before common era (BCE), common era (CE), before Christ (BC) and anno domini (AD) (Mellisa, 2015). In relation to time identification preference, scholars advocate for the use of the BCE and the CE format since the discussed duration can get accurately measured based on the year of common era. On the other hand, the BC and the AD formats get discouraged since their time durations cannot be accurately measured.

The book of Matthew develops teachings on discipleship, Christianity and church development which mainly features the process of church development and the conduct of Christians. In relation, the book has its audience being the church and the Christians within the church and the non-Christians who get guided on how to become Christians. In this regard, the epistle of Matthew guides its audience on church and Christianity development.

Question 6

Concerning Jesus teaching methods in Matthew Jesus adopted three key approaches that include parables, use of rhetorical questions and use of practical examples. In relation to the use parables, Jesus develops stories upon which he would develop moral lessons from the stories (Hilgeman, 2018). The parable of the prodigal son serves as key example since Jesus developed the story of the prodigal son to illustrate the love of God to human beings despite being sinners. Regarding the use of rhetorical questions Jesus asked questions upon which he triggered critical thinking among his audience. Lastly, Jesus could use practical example examples to enhance the understanding of his audience. Among the key examples of practical examples include the washing of the disciple’s feet to illustrate on how people should serve one another.
