Black Widow’s First Trailer Promises an Action-Packed Reunion
“I used to have nothing, then I got this job, this family, but nothing lasts forever.” These are the words spoken by Scarlett Johansson in the opening scene of the first trailer of Black Widow.
Even though we all knew that Marvel had planned to do a Black Widow movie since 2018, everything turned into a spin after the character did not survive in ‘Avengers: Endgame.’
The only option left was a prequel- and Marvel has delivered.
Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson, is set just before ‘Avengers: Endgame’ but after ‘Captain America: Civil War.’ In the first trailer released early Tuesday by Marvel, Black Widow travels back to her motherland, Russia, to settle ‘unfinished business.’
She also seems to be having a reunion, whether family or just comrades from her spy days in Russia remains to be seen. Red Guardian; the Russian version of Captain America plays an important part in the movie, though he is also to be the comic relief in a film filled with lots of battles and scowling.
Black Widow is set for cinema release in May 2020, and the trailer raised more questions that we hope the cinema will answer- or a second trailer in that case. We still do not know the identity of the masked villain, the Taskmaster. Even the identity of the actor portraying him is still a secret- as expected from Marvel Studios!
We also don’t know if Iron Man, another casualty of ‘Endgame,’ is making an appearance.
Black Widow is also set to answer numerous questions and fill gaps from other Marvel productions. We will finally have more background information to the Black Widow program, see how she was recruited into Shield, and finally, answer the question, what happened in Budapest?
In the first Avengers (2012), Black Widow, while firing off her gun during the battle of New York, casually tells Hawkeye; “Just like Budapest, all over again.”
Hawkeye replies: “You and I remember Budapest very differently!”
