Bloomberg Can’t beat Trump, says Sanders.
Direct criticism of his opponents hasn’t been a part of Sander’s campaign strategy, and many were left wondering owing to his candid criticism of one of his opponents in the democratic party, Billionaire Michael Bloomberg.
Bernie Sanders harshly criticized his rival in the Democratic party, Mike Bloomberg. He even went ahead to predict that the former New York mayor, one of the world’s richest men, will not be able to generate the enthusiasm and energy for his election campaign needed to beat the incumbent, President Donald Trump.
“The simple truth is that Mayor Bloomberg, with all his money, will not create the kind of excitement and energy we need to have the voter turnout we must have to defeat Donald Trump,” Sanders said.
Sanders made the scathing attack on Bloomberg at a gala dinner for the Democrats in Las Vegas on Saturday. Bloomberg was however, not present at the event. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
Bloomberg leads an alternate election campaign
Bloomberg has an unorthodox approach to the election. In the first phase of the election campaign, he is most focused on winning support in populous states such as California up to “Super Tuesday” March 3, ahead of the Iowa and New Hampshire primary elections earlier this month.
He has already, through a large number of television commercials, demonstrated that he has a vast number of means to run the election campaign. His fortune is about $ 60 billion.
Sanders spoke critically about Bloomberg’s views on minimum wages, wealth taxation, and interference with Wall Street.
Bloomberg attaches great importance to tackling climate change and environmental pollution. He also wants to change gun laws so that there are fewer guns in the community.
Sanders rarely criticizes
It is rare for Sanders to criticize his rivals directly, but he made an exception with Bloomberg, a move that has left many wondering as to why he did so in the first place.
Among other things, he pointed out that during his time as New York’s mayor, Bloomberg allowed police to visit random people on the streets in connection with a firearms campaign. Sanders thought it was “racist” when most blacks were visited.
Sanders and Bloomberg each belong to their wing in the party. Sanders is the self-proclaimed “democratic socialist.” whereas Bloomberg is perceived as moderate and partly conservative in financial matters.
Bloomberg led Saturday’s election campaign in Virginia, promising to work to dismantle systems that are plagued by bias and discrimination.
“So tonight, let me make clear because they want to know, as president of the United States, I will work to dismantle systems that are plagued by bias and discrimination, I will invest in communities that have worn the brunt of these systems for generations,” he said. “I will put this work at the very top of my agenda.”
While officially launching his presidential campaigns last year, Bloomberg described President Trump as a threat to the United States of America, and it’s values.
“I’m running for president to defeat Donald Trump and rebuild America,” Bloomberg said then, in a statement. “We cannot afford four more years of President Trump’s reckless and unethical actions. He represents an existential threat to our country and our values. If he wins another term in office, we may never recover from the damage.”
