Part 2 Process Analysis

From the two processes discussed in the assignment 1, choose ONE business process for a detailed business process analysis that identifies potential problems.

  • Use various relevant performance measures to evaluate the current performance ie Quality, Speed of Delivery and Process Velocity – this may include discussion on the process of Tightness and Dependence, and Bottlenecks. (Week 4)
    If you are analysing a service process, the analysis needs to cover Service Blueprinting and a line of visibility should be identified and comments on how sub-processes differ above and below this line should be given. This will help you to locate the issue/problem in the given business process. (Week 4)

 

FOCUS ON THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS FROM LAST ASSIGNMENT*

 

  • Analyse the issue in detail, using any process analysis tool, such as fish bone diagram, pareto chart, or six sigma to identify the core reasons for the problem. Aim to incorporate ethics and technology related issues into your discussion. (Week 5, 11 & 12)

 

Part 3 Business Process Improvement and Recommendations

In this section, focus on the improvement of the existing business process using relevant coursework concepts.

  • Recommend any business process improvement method to improve the existing process, such as Business Process Reengineering, Organisational Development or Automation, providing detailed recommendations. (Week 6)
  • Identify elements of the business process that lend themselves to automation and those that do not. Link the process to automation and identify if the process can be further improved using automation, such as Enterprise Resource Planning. Discuss in detail regarding how automation will help or present argument for why additional automation would not lead to improvement. (Week 12)
  • Discuss ethical considerations in the given business process, this may include consideration of any ethical issues at present or issues that could arise in the future when using your recommendations. For example, what ethical issues could arise if a significant increase in automation led to a decrease in staff. You can also consider linking Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) here if relevant (Week 11)

 

Part 4 Strategic Alignment

Link the process and recommendations to the organisation’s strategic alignment. Review details covered in assignment 1 considering mission, objectives, and strategies discussing how the improved process will be aligned to the strategic objectives of the organisation. (Week 10)

 

Part 5 Conclusion

Provide a clear and succinct conclusion drawing together all elements discussed outlining how your recommendations forward will assist the organisation achieving its desired outcome.

 

Part 6 References

There is no set number of references, but a minimum of five peer-reviewed articles would be expected from a second year university course. It is important you reference all claims you make correctly citing sources ie journal article, interview with someone who works for the organisation, website, or annual report. Ensure you include in-text citations throughout the document. APA referencing style.

  • Business report style. No executive summary is required for this assessment but do include a title page and table of contents number pages and have consistent headings. Avoid lists, rather use academic paragraphs that have a topic sentence, justifying sentences, and a concluding/linking sentence.
  • Use diagrams and charts effectively to describe the organisation and its processes.
  • The analysis should be critical in nature and supported by literature.
  • The maximum word count for the report is 2000 (+/- 10%). words. The reference list, title page table of contents are not included in the word count.
  • The report should be in 12-point font size and 1.5 line spaced.
