Strategic information management Introduction Information technology involves the employment of computers for the purpose of storing, retrieving manipulating and transferring data in the context institutions such as enterprises. Other data distribution technologies such as smartphones, recording equipment or televisions which are part of the user peripherals, software and devices are included. Information technology encompasses several stratums of management and virtualization tools, hardware (physical equipment), application (software) and operation systems all for the performance of crucial functions. In the academic perspective, information technology is useful up the delivery of information required for education purposes and therefore, improving the education environment. This technology though used to achieve the various specific academic objectives, it does come at a cost such as high data charges. Ample educational resources can be accessed via the technology where the material can be exchanged between students and teachers. Boundaries are broken in information access to students absent in class. It allows individuals have an opportunity to learn full time and with the speed of information transfer, there is instantaneous access to information. The technology allows group learning…
Sleep Journal and Reflection Project In the past three weeks, I have learned a lot about my body and how I think, sleep, and dream. The most intriguing subject I have learned is about dreams and sleep. This subject has helped me learn about my behavior and why they happen. I could recall one dream I had in the past six days very vividly. In the dream, I had gone to the park with my dogs for what was another typical day. It turned out weird since I had to run after my dogs across the parking lot and came to a still stand. I could see more hundreds of dogs staring at what looked like a zombie or another creature from the fantasy world I had no idea of. It looked very ugly and scary; however, it did not seem to care about any of us. While I was about to get closer to have a better view, I immediately heard my alarm ringing, and I woke up with a fast racing heart-beat. I, therefore, started investigating what factors…
Social Change and the Environment Social Issues in the News “Governor Signs Texting Law Inspired by Teen’s Death,” the headline said. In June 2010, the governor of Georgia signed the Caleb Sorohan Act, named for an 18-year-old student who died in a car accident caused by his texting while driving. The bill made it illegal for any drivers in Georgia to text unless they were parked. After Caleb died, his family started a campaign, along with dozens of his high school classmates, to enact a texting while driving ban. They signed petitions, started a Facebook page, and used phone banks to lobby members of their state legislature. Vermont enacted a similar ban about the same time. The new laws in Georgia and Vermont increased the number of states banning texting while driving to 28. (Downey, 2010)Downey, M. (2010, June 4). Governor signs texting law inspired by teen’s death. According to the Harvard Business Review reading, why do people lose motivation? According to readings from Harvard business review, people lose motivation for doing work because most of the workers are not able to explore, experiments as well as learning. After all, the organization is conducted in a way that prevents employees from exercising those activities. For instance, in the case of Tom, he was a website developer, and he was hired by organization immediately after college, he was told that there was an opportunity for learning and growing; therefore, he had high expectations of gaining more knowledge. However, it did not happen because the supervisor never allowed him to experiments on what he knew he could do better, his supervisor was afraid of learning new things because he thought the test would not go as per the plan of the organization, hence denying tom an excellent opportunity for learning. Also, people lose motivation as a result of having high expectations when doing something where if the plans fail, one feel discouraged to the point of not trying something…
Creative Interpretation The little Mexican Girl My sister and I looked at each other and sighed. After a long a tedious train ride, we had eventually reached the boarding school. We did not have anything with us apart from two old suitcases. My elder sister, Lizzy looked more composed than I was. We were two orphaned girls who had moved from a foster home to a boarding school at the end of the world. So I wondered why Lizzy looked so calm and content. “Are you Lizzy and Janet?” a voice startled me back to reality. “Yes,” Lizzy responded to the lady who was smiling down at us. “Oh, good. My name is Madam Hinkleberg, and I am here to take you to Wempshire Boarding.” She said as Lizzy, and I stared at her thinking of what to say next. “Hurry along then. We haven’t got all day. Pick your bags and follow me.” Without another word, Lizzy and I picked our suitcases and followed the lady. I stared outside the car window and got lost in a pool of…
Poor eating habit An individual’s behaviors and choices affect how they lead their life, and health-based decisions affect their overall wellness and state of health. Behavior change is pretty tricky and complicated, making it almost impossible to make any positive changes in how one leads his or her life. However, with a willing heart and in the right environment, behavior cab change. In this case, we discuss the eating disorder, which results in anorexia. Anorexia is common in teenagers, which results from the changes they undergo during puberty. Peer pressure makes them excessively sensitive to casual comments and criticism about their shape or weight. Changing this behavior aids in building self-confidence and boosting the esteem of many teenagers. Youngsters with low self-esteem always have feelings of defensiveness and lack courage and confidence in their skin. Learning about healthy eating habits and being satisfied in one’s appearance will make one happy about themselves (Howlett, Neil np). A good relationship between an individual and other people develops since the inferiority complex does not exist, and the person barely experiences inferiority complex. This…
Philosophical thoughts Plato’s analogy The analogy of the cave is one of the three similes that are used to illustrate theory forms. Plato uses the theory of the cave to illustrate the philosophical difference between a difference of the world of forms and the physical world. The analogy describes the world as full of illusions. The world’s true reality is found in the eternal unchanging world of forms. The cave represents the visible world in the sense of experience. The shadow seems to be more real than the truth itself. It directly represents human soul imprisonment which prevents it from seeking the true knowledge. All the prisoners are chained up and are facing the wall. Fire is located behind the wall. Behind the wall, other people are busy walking up and down carrying statues on their heads. Plato describes our condition as human beings, he stipulates that our senses chain us and deter us from accepting the world around us. Prisoners symbolize the ordinary people who haven’t discovered the philosophical truth. They are constrained to believe that the shadows they…
Government Legislative Bill HB 6 and HB 316 The voting systems and transport systems of Georgia are under legislation to improve their efficiency to the members of the public. The voting, and the transport systems in Georgia are not an exception. Georgia is described to be having a “shaky” voting system, and thus needs prompt changes to achieve a uniform voting system. Georgia currently offers two voting systems, which encompasses the absentee ballots, and the physical attendance to the polling stations to cast votes. Any nation in the world, which has not developed efficiency in the absentee balloting systems are most likely exercising voting delays. Most of the absentee ballots get rejected, and there is no account of the time it takes to get another absentee ballot. The outcomes are the lengthened voting process because of the long waits. The House Bill number 316 (HB 316) will provide uniform election equipment, and speed up the voting process. While HB 6 is a bill which seeks to provide affordable transport means to the people of Georgia by relating to the “Georgia…
accidents of self-driving vehicles Introduction Since the automobile appeared in this world, the quality of human beings’ lives increased significantly. People use it to commute, transport, and travel, and so on. Over the years, many new functions were being applied to the automobile. It is not merely a vehicle nowadays, it can answer the phone, broadcast the radio, and provide games for rear passengers to play. These years, the invention of electric cars solved the problems of expensive fuel costs and greenhouse gas emissions. As technology improves, everything becomes possible. The ambitions of humankind are developing rapidly. Many technology companies are focusing on the development of “self-driving” cars, a concept that was existing in many science fiction films. A “self-driving” car is an autonomous car, and it can drive by itself intelligently without the operations of human beings. It works through the combination of internal algorithms and some external devices, like sensors and cameras. The ideal “self-driving” car can bring convenience to people’s lives. It would reduce the number of accidents, provide elder and disabled people opportunities to drive and…
how Judicial precedent works and how the court system ensures consistent behaviour. The judicial precedent refers to the sources of law in which the earlier decisions are employed in the creation law that the judges to refer back to as the apt guidance in making future case decisions. Thus, precedent is mainly founded on the stare decisis et non quieta movere principle, that is also known as the ‘stare decisis’, implying to “stand by the matters already decided. The binding precedent, therefore, entails the following of the previous decisions. This may at times result in the unfair decisions which can be observed as one of the disadvantages of the binding precedent. The binding precedent is mainly created in instances where the latter case’s decisions are satisfactorily comparable to the previous case facts. The precedent doctrine is known to be an increasingly rigid doctrine. Thus, in the hierarchy of courts, all courts are bound to earlier decisions made by the higher courts. In England, at the top of the hierarchy is the European Court of Justice and below it is…
