Safe work environment The creation of a healthy work environment helps foster excellence in patient care due to its suitability, comfort, and safety. The nursing staff shortages can only be addressed when the work environment promotes quality outcomes in nursing practice. A healthy work environment plays a vital role in staff retention and recruitment, safety, avoiding errors, improving positive patient outcomes, and maintain the financial feasibility of the health organization (Emold, Schneider, & Yagil, 2015). These can only be achieved when the environment is structured such that it is safe, humane, healing, and respectful to the needs, rights, responsibilities, and rights of all parties. Art and mental illness Born in 1907, Frida Kahlo had no dreams of becoming an artist but rather a doctor. However, life had other plans for her art. As an infant, she suffered Polio, an illness that she finally overcame and was healed completely. Later on, while pursuing her dreams of becoming a doctor, Frida was involved in an accident that changed her life completely. She discovered the artist in her while lying in the hospital, amidst the pain and suffering. Although Frida is long gone, the works of art, the self-portraits she left tell her story and feelings candidly and can be used to create an accurate diagnosis of her mental health. In Frida’s many portraits, she embraced her facial hair and a stoic facial expression avoiding any resemblance of happiness or a smile. As Antelo (2013) puts it, “The stoic expression is observed not only in her self-portraits but also in photographs. As acknowledged by several art historians, Kahlo’s expressions reflect the many physical and emotional challenges that she faced in her life.” The portraits, therefore, tell the…
How Context Affects Art: A Critical Examination Of Diverse Epochs In this essay, we examine diverse art forms from different eras and regions across the world to demonstrate that art is a product of its context. This hypothesis draws from the distinctness evident in each art movement, usually based on broader philosophical and social currents that define a culture or society. For the sake of this paper, we limit ourselves to art in three eras: Prehistoric art, Ancient Egyptian art and Islamic art. In examining these three artistic movements through the lens of their unique epochs, we can conclusively prove that art is indeed a product of its context. Prehistoric art, though diverse and present across the world, is conspicuous for its depiction of art on rock and simplicity of expression. The artists of that era also frequently depicted motifs that expressed their pagan beliefs, a practice that resulted in numerous idols sculptures surviving through time to this day. The lack of refined tools for paintings or sculptures often resulted in simple art pieces lacking the level of detail evident…
