Tourism in South Padre Island South Padre Island, in the beginning, was a small island populated with native Karankawa Indians, birds of migration, and turtles on the seashore. The Island was presented as a gift to Nicholas Balli by King Carlos III and much later found its hands under Padre Jose, who resulted in permanent settlers coming into the area, with the leading site of attraction being the church. The city was known to have love; hence many people chose it as a place to spend their vacation. The area is also known to have a rich history, where many have joined hands in Holy matrimony alongside the beach, which gives an incredible view as the shore gets washed by the waves (“Our History”, 2019). Policymakers in South Padre Island have made efforts to ensure there are proper security measures set in place to make sure that residents, guests, and tourists have a secure experience on the island during periods of vacation. Many people are known to spend their holidays along the beach. South Padre police force, together with the…
Social movements and Change Observations from scholars have revealed a different pattern in political participation in various democracies that tolerate social movements. Most social groups have influenced the way people votes in democratic countries such as Canada. Political scholars, pundits and policymakers believe that social movements contribute to a shift in voter turnout in the larger democracies. Social movements have added to the Change in political participation in large democracies such as the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. A social movement is a loosely organized group to support a particular social change. In most cases, social movements aim at advocating for a specific implementation of interventions to combat a specific social structure or values. Although social movements have different sizes depending on the country and the population affected by the social structure and values, they are essentially collective. In this case, the changes are characterized by a community of different relationship who share a common outlook of society. A social movement is composed of a merely perpetuated crowd who are not affiliated to a particular organization. While working on…
SMART TRAFFIC LIGHTS SYSTEM FOR EMERGENCY RESPONSE VEHICLES ABSTRACT: In the Existing system, There is no automatic system is implemented in both the traffic system as well as in the toll gate system. All the system so far in existence is of the standard interface. In the proposed method, Our proposed work is to implement the same concept to avoid time-wasting in the signals for the emergency vehicle but using Zigbee as the concept. The main advantage of using Zigbee is a long-range communication. Messages can be migrated to green mode even the vehicle comes in the long-range. IR is used for Vehicle count, and Zigbee is used for controlling the Signals. Apart from this work, we also deploy Zigbee based toll gate payment automation system in this project. Payment is taken automatically from the vehicle owner’s account, and even the vehicle comes from the long-range from the toll gate. The vehicle owner needs to provide two reports; the amount would be taken from the first account. If there is no sufficient balance, then the amount would be taken from…
purpose for the setting up of a smart home Smart homes entail the integration of home devices to enable independent living in the home. The concept has long been in the milling among futurist technologists as it offers one a way to manage his/ her home despite any apparent disability or any other outstanding factors. The setup is especially beneficial to the elderly who may have difficulties doing simple tasks around the house and may need assistance either in human form or, in this case, technology. The technologies offered automatically did the tasks they were assigned and, therefore, went a long way in assisting those lacking time or those not able to do them. For a home to get considered a smart home, it needs an internal network, whether wired, wirelesses, or cable, a gateway whose purpose is to manage the available devices, and mostly home automation for the devices available. The specifics of a certain smart home vary from another, and what suits one user may not be what is needed by another. The set up of a smart…

Short Story Reflection In this course, I have encountered several short stories. Some of them were amusing and enjoyable while others were less interesting. The story that I found very interesting is The Girls in Their Summer Dresses by Irwin Shaw. This paper explores why I was fascinated by this short story and the extent to which it has influenced my personal character. I found Irwin Shaw’s The Girls in their Summer Dresses interesting for various reasons. To begin, I think that this short story uses characters that one resonates with. Michael and Frances plan to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Shaw, 1939). However, their plans are delayed when Frances catches Michael looking at women walking along the streets. Michael’s conduct raises a relatively serious conflict as Frances thinks that the behavior of her husband suggests that he is less interested in her and may end up cheating on her. On the contrary, Michael argues that he is very committed to his wife and is only entertaining his eyes by looking at other women (Shaw, 1939). Although Michael’s explanation…
Sexual Violence in the Media Introduction The past several decades have seen a significant increase in the number of movies and other TV programs with some sort of violence. This is true for both children and adult TV programs with violence being depicted even in cartoons. Violence may be in the form of assault, murder, kidnapping, robbery or sexual violence (Intons-Peterson et al., 1989). Among all these forms of violence, sexual violence, by far, has raised the most concerns. According to the World Health Organization, sexual violence is defined as any attempt to obtain a sexual act through coercion directed against a victim with or without the existence of any relationship and in any setting. Sexual violence also encompasses unwanted sexual comments (WHO, 2007). Coercion not only focuses on physical force but also on psychological torture and emotional blackmail. In the setting of mass media, sexual violence is a continuum covering physical violence, emotional violence, psychological violence and verbal violence (Bivens & Dawson, 2013). Children, teenagers and the youth bear the brunt of the negative effects of sexual violence in…
Reviewing Sherene Razack’s Article, “Freezing Deaths in Saskatchewan” Sherene Razack’s article, “It Happened More Than Once Freezing Deaths in Saskatchewan,” highlights the racial, spatial economies that result in freezing deaths of aboriginal people in Saskatchewan. According to Razack, the colonial settlers devise ways to dispose of the native settlers from the colonial state to rightfully lay claim to the territory. Dumping Aboriginal people to the city’s outskirts is a measure arising from the colonialists’ necessity to uphold forceful lines in the colonial city. Razack examines inquests that look into the freezing deaths of various aboriginal youth, concluding that the events that led to their death, along with the subsequent inquests, are a representation of the settlers’ devaluation of Aboriginal life, which the law creates and supports. By pointing out the events that led to the freezing deaths of the Aboriginal young adults as well as the deprivations and adversities that the Aboriginal populations experience in Saskatchewan, Razack shows the unethical colonial perspective that considers Aboriginal death as a predictable end of a troublesome population. The deaths of such natives are…
Compare and Contrast Relief Sculpture using these works of art Discuss, Compare and Contrast Relief Sculpture using these works of art: Halicarnassus, East Frieze, in the British Museum, London, England, Figure 3.2, and Oscar Wilde’s Gravestone in Pere LaChaise Cemetery, Paris, France. The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus was constructed between 350 and 353 BC by Artemisia after the death of her partner Mausolus died in Halicarnassus. Mausolus and his wife had ruled over Halicarnassus and its surroundings for roughly 24years. The tomb was built to symbolize the clash between the Amazons and the Greeks (“Mausoleum at Halicarnassus”). Oscar Wilde’s Gravestone is a structure that was carved in 1914 by Jacob Epstein. The structure that took roughly ten months to be completed was carved out of a 20-tonne block of stone. This tomb has a winged symbol similar to the Sphinx on a frontward flight with perpendicularly extended wings and is thought to be inspired by Wilde’s poem The Sphinx (“Oscar Wilde”). Both the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus and Oscar Wilde’s Gravestone are three- dimensional structures because they have depths. The Mausoleum of…
Development of Political Parties in the United States The first party system The first party system existed from 1788 to 1824 and was a result of the differences between the Jeffersonians and the Hamiltonians during the administration of Washington (Schaffner, 2011). These sides evolved into the first American parties: the anti-federalists and the federalists, whereby the anti-federalists later came to be the Democratic-Republicans. This system lasted from the time of Washington’s administration with the Democratic-Republicans winning the presidency 11 times out of 12 elections. This party system reflected sectionalism/regionalism much less compared to the other systems that followed. The second party system The second party system dominated politics between 1837 and 1852 in the United States and was spurred by the 1828 presidential elections (Longley, 2020). The party system represented a shift towards the interest of the public in politics. Most of the people voted on election day, the newspaper supported various candidates, political rallies were common, and America experienced a high number of political parties. Not only did the second party system help increase the people’s interest and participation…
