The Effects of Rising Cost of Higher Education to Students The Increasing Gap between the Poor and the Rich* INTRODUCTION The aspect of increasing tuition fees in American universities leaves many students struggling with insurmountable levels of debt. The “Ivory Tower” puts this in perspective as it delves in an analytical view of growing worries and critique revolving around rising university costs and student debt. The author of the film, Andrew Rossi, leaves nothing at chance as he strives to trace the origins of rising costs amidst the backdrop of raising financial competition in institutions. He goes further to put forth ideas that will help to turn around the situation.  The statistics are stunning and they leave nothing to admire as the film points out how there has been an unprecedented rise of tuition fees year in year out. Welcome Adress to School Parents Good morning everyone,  I would like to welcome all of you to our meeting for the welcome address to the new school parents. The school-parent association is an essential pillar in the school fraternity. It is a body that oversees the cooperation between the teachers and the parents for the betterment of the students. The school parent association is a representation of the school community at large. The children are at a phase where they need consistent guiding to mold them into responsible people. Therefore, when the parents, as well as the school unite to instill morals to the young students, the school community is represented positively because of producing smart and responsible students. The association also works to provide a sense of community at the school. We can agree that most people work best in a supportive and accommodating environment. The same applies to the students as they desire to feel the safety and care at school for them to reach their full potential. When the school brings parents abroad, the sense of community…

We Know What Works in Teaching Composition Adam Niklewicz for The Chronicle Review By Doug Hesse JANUARY 03, 2017 When I came to the University of Denver to start a campus writing program in 2006, I heard many faculty members say, “A lot of my students can’t even write a decent sentence.” So when I read Joseph Teller making much the same assertion in an essay last fall, “Are We Teaching Composition All Wrong?” I recognized hyperbole when I saw it. My response to that sort of exaggeration 10 years ago — joined by my 20 new colleagues in the writing program — was to gather and analyze a corpus of 500,000 words of student writing from classes across the campus. We found that, in fact, well over 90 percent of the sentences coded clear and error free. Faculty members wanted to see better student writing (and I surely acknowledged and valued that desire), but it was clear that merely fixing sentences wasn’t going to achieve that end. There were larger issues: Students needed help developing and deploying their ideas and matching their…
