Concepts of depreciation I learned the concepts of depreciation, Leverage, and capital structure in this week. These are core financial concepts. I learned about capital structures, operating break-even point, break-even point, how the changing costs impact the break-even point, the concepts of operating Leverage, Financial Leverage, and total Leverage. In this week’s learning, I learned about the general income format and the types of leverages. I was also exposed to concepts of EBIT for various levels of sales revenues. I learned the formula to calculate the degree of operating Leverage. I also learned the concepts of financial Leverage, calculation of EPS for various levels of EBIT levels, and total leverage calculation. I understood the relationship between the operating, financial, and total Leverage and how all these three leverages impact a firm’s decision. EPS determines a firms’ financing decision. I learned the technique of EBIT-EPS to select the most appropriate capital structure, which would maximize the earnings per share (EPS) for certain expected earning before the calculation of interest and tax (EBIT). The shortcomings of the EBIT-EPS approach are also examined.…
Central tendency in statistics The measure of central tendency in statistics is a fundamental and a typical value in a given set of data. Typically, the central tendency is the centre or the location of a probability distribution. The most common measures of central tendency are the arithmetic mean, node and the median where all the measurers are known as the averages. A primary or a middle tendency is usually calculated and set for the finite values or theoretical distribution. The authors mostly use the central tendency for denoting the trend of data, for instance, the qualitative data around the fundamental values. In primary tendency distribution, its contrast with the dispersion and variability. The measure may analyze data that contains either a weak or strong central tendency by checking its central tendency. It is appropriate and critical to transforming a given set of data before analyzing or calculating its central tendency. In an example, squaring the values or taking the logarithms helps in data processing in the preparation of the dimensional data. The transformation of the data depends on the…
The contract Faust made with the devil This article focuses on explaining the contract Faust made with the devil. The author cites that Faust sold his soul to the devil for a moment of absolute spiritual fulfillment. He has lived on as a legend to express people’s need for transcendence and to caution people concerning the way people try to achieve it. The article mainly addresses Faust’s contract from a legal perspective as an agreement of buy and sell. It looks at how and whether doing so can assist clear up vital issues at the core of Faust as a legend and look the way in which people conduct their spiritual affairs. The article is a reliable source with the date of publication, the names of the authors, and their information as scholars. It is published in a university press, and other scholars have cited it. The article also has cited different sources as well as the relevant passages from Goethe’s and Marlowe’s telling of the Faust Legend. I, therefore, find it reliable to use in my next assignment. The…
Cognitive reinforcer Cognitive reinforcer the stimuli is rewarding when paired with another stimulus, which is reinforcing (Shrestha). The reinforcers are not entirely essential for the survival of the other stimuli, but they are essential for their success, for example, money, gifts, and accolades. The students are paired with the food, and therefore before the food or lunch hour, they have to finish the work assigned. They always work with perfection for them not to be late for lunch and be released by their teacher for lunch break early. The lunch break or food reward and completion of the work assigned are the contingencies responsible for the increased productivity and accuracy in the students before the lunch bell. A conditioned aversive stimulus can help to change behavior positively or negatively through learned aversive stimulus when paired with reinforcement. Aversive stimulus happens when a hostile event will decrease the probability of the behavior once given as the outcome. Negative reinforcement occurs when aversive stimuli are removed and may increase the likelihood of a behavior happening (Pritchard, Chong). A learned aversive stimulus is a…
Emerging adulthood Yes. I am an emerging adult.I am at the 18 to 25 age bracket, a stage proposed as between adolescence and adulthood. Emerging adulthood has characteristics that distinguish it from other stages of life. These characteristics include; identity explorations, self-focus, instability, a sense of broad future possibilities, and feeling in-between adolescence and adulthood. Emerging adults often like to explore different possibilities in work and love. Therefore, their lives are often unstable. An example of this is when emerging adults move from one residence to another to explore new possibilities and experiences. Emerging adulthood is a self-focused age. Most emerging adults in the United States move out of their parents’ houses at the age of roughly 18 or 19. However, most of them do not marry or have a child until at least their late twenties. They focus on themselves during that period and prepare for adult life. Another distinctive feature is an age of feeling of not being an adolescent and not fully an adult. Most emerging adults in this period have the subjective feeling of being in…
Compliance with Federal Reporting Standards for Incidences of Sexual Assault on SUNY and CUNY Campuses. Introduction The Senate bill no. 04374 A involves amending the education laws concerning the documentation of sexual assault and related crimes and provide access to annual crime statistics in all campuses that receive state aid and SUNY AND CUNY institutions. According to the bill sponsored by senator Parker and Bailey of Montogemery seeks to ensure that students are made aware of crime statistics on their campuses and the safety policies put in place on campus regarding sexual assault and other crimes. The pending legislation also seeks to compel the SUNY and CUNY institutions to comply with crime recording by ensuring that an employee with a bachelor’s degree in either nursing, psychology, or social work is appointed to monitor compliance. Also, the legislation aims at ensuring that surveys are conducted in both state and city universities of New York on incidences of on-campus sexual assaults. parenting style and their effect on children at a young age and in the future Most researchers argue there is no one way proved to be right to bring up a child as a parent. However, a child’s behavior is usually characterized by how his parent has raised him. One’s parenting style has so much to do with how his or her child sees things and how he feels about himself. Parents should ensure that their parenting style contributes to healthy growth and development since a parent’s interaction with her kids to the approach used to discipline them will influence their life throughout their stages of growth. Parenting style is, therefore, more of a psychological format that represents different strategies that parents use in raising their kids. The main parenting styles are; authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and uninvolved parenting. This paper explores the parenting style and their effect on children at a young age and in the future. Authoritative parenting is seen in parents who set rules in that a child’s mischief is accompanied by a consequence. This parenting style is…
Jean’s stool Jean’s stool would range from type 2 (sausage-shaped by lumpy) or type 3 (like a sausage but with cracks on its surface) mainly because of her immobility, eating and drinking habits. Damjanov (2008) suggest that BSFS is a crucial tool applied by nurses to assess the elimination process of patients with chronic constipation. Sedentary lifestyle and immobility is a severe cause of illness in the elderly, mainly because they lack physical exercise to stimulate physical and mental well-being (Ikidde, 2014). According to Ikidde (2014), BSFS must be used by nurses to understand the level of constipation for a patient and understand which physical exercise fits the patient based on their conditions. Exercises improve the motility of the gastrointestinal tract and its contents, which prevent constipation. Chumpitazi et al. (2016), argue that BSFS has excellent reliability, validity and agreement when applied by nurses to rate patient’s stool type by raters The nurse will perform a colonic transit study using radiopaque markers and get the abdominal radiographs at different intervals. The patient will be required to ingest the Radiopaque…
Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier (No. 86-836) (1988) Journalism students in St. Louis from Hazelwood East High School had the privilege to have a newspaper that was sponsored by the school known as ‘The Spectrum’. In one of its publications, a story about divorce as well as teen pregnancy was featured, but the principle felt that the story was very inappropriate for high school students. Before the publication, he decided to remove the two pages that were offensive according to him, and he did it without notifying the journalism club. The students felt that this decision was premature because, through a discussion, they would have had a chance to tell the story without offending anyone and to make the necessary changes. The principle deleted not only the ‘inappropriate’ story, but other stories and articles that were non-offensive were also deleted. The journalism students felt that the principle infringed on their first amendment rights which is why they took the case to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. However, the court decided against the students. It…
