Project Management Question 1. How do you develop a control plan? A cross-functional team develops a control plan with an understanding of all the process that requires improvement. The team has more opportunities to identify and improve most of the process. The content of the control plan can come from various sources such as process flow diagram, unique characteristics, design reviews, team expertise about the process, among others. Question 2. What are the three levels of control plans? Home (n.d.) pointed out that depending on the point of the product in the new product introduction, and control plan has three levels. The first is a prototype which includes a description of dimensions to be measured and the total number of a performance test to be undertaken. The second level is pre-launch, which entails descriptions of aspects to be measured and performance test after the first level. The last step is the production level that involves a comprehensive listing of products, process controls, process unique characteristics and measurements. Question 3. Explain the process of communication Watt (2014) noted that communication is…
Using Critical Thinking to Analyze Written Materials In the article (O’Meara, 2003), Kelly forwards that vaccines may cause autism among children. He argues that vaccines that contain a high level of mercury may surge autism in children, as had been noted in the United States. The paper points out some vaccines, such as antibiotics, aluminum salts, and methanol. It is noted that live viruses have unknown elements of traces that led to autism. Kelly states that the components that are responsible for the increased number of autism incidences among the children. Even though the article highlights various elements of vaccines that may cause autism, few errors can be noted in the article. First, at some point, the author forwards his opinion without facts. For example, the statistics provided in 2002 states that many cases of autism were a result of vaccines. The statistics are not supported by facts and prove from any recognized medical institutions. There is also the error of appeal to ignorance. In this case, the article does not have enough supportive evidence to prove points beyond doubts.…
Zooarchaeology Question 1 Zooarchaelogists can employ various lines of evidence to distinguish between different forms of accumulation. An archaeologist can use fills to determine the type of accumulation. Fills are the types of materials that are deposited in different sealing layers. It is one of the possible measures of the time difference in the formation of accumulations. The overlying sequence infills are indications of the type of accumulation, and this helps in understanding the kind of material under study. Another thing that acts as a line of evidence that enables Zooarchaeologists to distinguish lines of accumulation is the tip line, which is generally the characteristics of fills. The nature of the tip defined whether an accumulation is a human, mammalian carnivores, or raptors. The characters can also indicate whether accumulation is of a natural process. Further, by studying the hyaenids carnivore class, one can determine which the accumulation type. It is one of the accumulating lines that should be used to distinguish the accumulating agents. It involves the study and inferring the social behaviors of the hyaenids class through bone-cracking.…
Required Rate of Return United Automobiles projects to expand its international business operations by opening up sub-branches in various countries. The first major production centre will be opened in Vancouver, Canada. The project is expected to consumer $780,000, and the company forecast high returns and profit margin. The rate of return for the Vancouver project will be derived using CAPM whereby the risk-free rate of return will be subtracted from the market rate of return. The result will then be multiplied by the beta of Canadian market security. The final result will then be added to the current risk-free rate of return for this will help derive the final required rate of return for the Vancouver project. The Canadian market has continuous shifts in the economic elements, which makes the rates not stable; therefore the company have put in place currency and exchange risk mitigation factors. Estimating Cash Flows To estimate the revenues for the Vancouver project, the firm will start with analyzing its expected expenses. In this case, all operating expenses, wages and salaries, office suppliers, location cost, project…
Paid-Parental Leave Introduction Currently, global companies are in the haste of providing paid parental leave to their workers. This is due to the fact that it increases business productivity. However, most of the business cooperation around the world deny their workers this paid leave with the claim that they don’t have to pay idle workers, something which is so inhumane and mean (Adema et al, 7). Also, they add that parental leave is a luxury which they can’t afford for their workers. Basically, a parental leave incorporates maternal, paternal and adoption leaves. Pursuing this further, the ILO urges that parents should be added a parental leave which is supplementary to either the paternity or maternity leave. Moreover, Adema et al (16), urges that in some countries the parental leave is usually individually entitled to a parent while in others it is shareable within the family, that is, some of the weeks are reserved for the mother while others are for the father like the case in Austria and Germany. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the United States…
strengths and weaknesses as an evaluator After completing the report, I identified some strengths and weaknesses as an evaluator. I realized that I am likely to be more compassionate and try to stay away from the bad characteristics of a facility. On examining this issue closely, I realized that this is negativity I should avoid because the aim is to identify the quality and aspects of early childhood care. I realized that my compassion could lead me to no systematically reviewing associations between childhood associations and wellbeing. Another weakness is that I identified in my observation is the likelihood to fail to observe every detail and thus end up missing some things. Children ought to be nurtured and stimulated in their early life to end successful in their school life and work in their future. I realized the possibility of making slight mistakes in my observation, which was likely to alter the details in terms of missing information. In this case, issues of care and stimulation of children are likely to be omitted and thus making a fault in the…
borderline diabetes This scenario is about a patient who has borderline diabetes. This means that her diabetes can still go away if there is a proper diet in place (diet controlled). Avoiding eating sugary food and drinks is advised to the patient to promote her health. Patient D lives in a Nursing Home where a Nurse Practitioner comes to see her every month to check her blood sugar. Every day, there is a ‘resident of the day’ which means that they check their Observations as well as their weight and BMI. So, every month of the 28th, the Nurses are able to check patient D’s weight as they record it in the diary. The staff have noticed that patient D’s weight has been increasing each month. She is 4 foot 4 inches in height with a weight of 60.50 kilograms, her BMI is 34.2, which falls to ‘obese category.’ Patient D always has snacks in her room, like biscuits, sweets, and chocolates. She has a friend that always visits with lots of snacks that she gives to patient D. One…
Cross Docking vs Break Bulk Cross-docking in logistics is the practice of unloading materials and inventories from incoming trucks and semi-trailer trucks and loading them into outbound trailers, rail cars and trucks that have little storage space between (Vans, Valckenaers & Cattrysse, 2012). Cross-docking mainly involves unloading incoming materials to change the type of conveyance. Most of the firms also cross-dock to sort materials that are meant for different destinations. For example, in retail operations, grocery products such as fruits can be shifted unloaded from incoming truck direct to outbound trucks that transport them directly to customers. Further cross-docking is done to combine materials from various sources into a single container with materials going to the same destination. Cross-docking began with trucking companies in the United States. Its origin is also associated with the Wal-Mart company retail businesses. In most trucking company, cross-docking is conducted by transferring cargo from one transport system to another vehicle without warehousing services. It is noted that retailers use utilize staging areas to sort inbound materials, consolidate and store outbound materials until shipments are made.…
Application: Scholarly Writing The article has some practical and ethical limitations that contribute to its weaknesses. Further, it lacks ecological validity and inclusiveness. On the other hand, the paper has internal strength, and it is reliable. It contains some statistics to prove the number of students having computers. From the first sentence, the author’s point of view is clear even though not supported by facts. It is not evident that computers have spread. I think the author would have compared two points in time. The facts stated that poor people could not afford computers need to be supported by helping the reader to know the price of a cheap computer. Despite the weakness, the article has strengths-based on highlights of various facts that are of common knowledge. Since the introduction of computers, the learning process has improved. Commercialization is not left out and identifying these areas where the computer has helped the paper strength. The paper is appropriate and precise for its audience. The author’s opinions are not bias but are based on facts that can be confirmed from other…
Causes of Autism One of the controversial issues in medical research currently if the causes of autism. Medical researchers still spend most of the time examining the relationship between autism and vaccines for the children. Autism spectrum disorder entails a vast range of conditions with social skills challenges, repetitive behaviors, and problems in speech and difficulties in nonverbal communication. Most researcher relates ASD with the vaccines that are given to the children at a tender age. O’Meara (2003) forwards that vaccines are causative agents of autism. In the article, it is stated that vaccines that contain mercury increase the chances of the disorder in children. However, the proposers have not scientifically proved the content of mercury-based preservative that would cause autism. This presents a fallacy of disjunctive form. I think that the idea should be proven through a series of research before conclusions. Further, from (Lithwick, 2002), it is pointed out that conducting a high-school urinal test would help prove how effective the vaccines are and do not cause disorders. Through observation of different cases, it is noted that vaccines…
