WESTWARD EXPANSION FROM 1860 TO 1890 Assignment Instructions Assignment 1 This assignment is a “think piece,” which is an essay that requires you to interact with a subject and develop your own interpretation based on that experience. After your initial analysis of a specific topic, you should synthesize that with other outside research to support your ideas. You should use a minimum of two other scholarly, peer-reviewed resources. Specifically for this assignment we will use an interactive map of westward expansion from 1860 to 1890. You can access it at this URL: https://ksps.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/akh10.socst.ush.now.westexpans/westward-expansion-18601890/ (The interactive map will often not work with Google Chrome). Once you have the map open, click on the boxes for Major Cities, Railroad Networks, Improved Agricultural Land, and States and Territories. At the bottom of the map, you will notice the decades 1860, 1870, 1880, and 1890. Click on each of these decades in succession and you will see the ways in which the country changed. [unique_solution]The goal of this assignment is for you to interpret, synthesize, and analyze what you are seeing on the map.…

TJCs preparation committee  As one of the managers and on the TJCs preparation committee, I strongly disagree with the proposition to drop the accreditation program. Accreditation might be an expensive process. However, I think it is unfair to consider the cost of the process at the expense of the health of the public. Our accreditations improve the quality and safety of health care through the set standards and performance measures that checks not only the quality of services provide by health organizations, but also patient rights. In addition, TJC accreditation helps in improving risk management and reduction since organizations should have established risk evaluation and mitigation measures in place before they seek accreditation. To reinforce this, the TJC walks with the organizations by offering education on good practice as well as professional advice and counsel. To this end, accredited health organizations will be in a better competitive position, providing high quality services and hence leading to a health nation. This sits well with our mission statement and thus we cannot drop what works best for us. Dropping the accreditations…

Global Studies Public Forum: Paper Prompt #1 Slavery refers to a relationship between two or more individuals that are economical, social, and sometimes emotional. There are certain essential features of any connection between the slaveholder and the slave. They are the forms of control that are executed upon the slave. The power is founded on the actual or the potential use of violence. It entails the absence of any payment beyond maintenance, and the misuse of the labour or other features of slave for economic benefits. While there are essential elements that determine what slavery is, the components and the slave/slaveholder relationships are packaged in several ways that reflect their cultural and social context. The above assertions are acceptable, but they are open to any debate. In this essay, the claim will be tested, and an outline of the theory that rests upon it will be provided. The paper will explore how this global theoretical framework will help in a better understanding of the slave trade and the ongoing impact of slavery in the world today. In the 18th century,…

reviewing a court case The present paper will review a court case in one of the District Courts. It will specifically highlight the case details and the type of crime the defendant partook in. Lastly, it will mention the significance of the case and the challenges in carrying out the research. Case Details The Court case is a motion that sought reconsideration in three denials. They are the Rule 29 motion, suppression motions and dismissal of charges in the theft and bribery programs. The case was presented in United States District Court, W.D of Pennsylvania in 14th May 2009. The defendant is Cyril H. Wecht, a former Coroner of Allegheny County and prominent forensic pathologist. The ruling made by the presiding judge, Sean McLaughlin, was, granting of the motion of the defendant to suppress evidence held from the laptop warrant and Penn Avenue warrant. However, he denied the motions of dismissing the indictment and the judgement of the acquittal. The judge granted the defendant the suppression of motion as it is a harsh remedy, and should only happen when the…

Have a Splash of Fun in Dubai this weekend! If you are a child at heart, then you must grab the hands of your young ones and your friends for a ride to the water parks, especially during the summer. A water park is a theme park that features water play areas, such as water slides, splash pads, spray grounds (water playgrounds), lazy rivers, or another recreational bathing, swimming, and barefooting environments.     More than just Common Games! Water parks in more current states of development may also have some artificial surfing or bodyboarding environment, such as a wave pool or Flow Rider. Water parks which emerge from spas tend to resemble mountain resorts, as they become year-round destinations more closely. Water play areas are similar to water parks and include urban beaches, splash pads, and smaller collections of water slides in many hotels and public swimming pools.     Safety First Enjoying yourself is fit and elegant, but not at the cost of your life. There are several reports over the years that bring out serious injuries caused…

You Manage It article review The article, “You Manage It!” is an exciting piece of work that attempts to establish whether or not money buys happiness. A 1974 study conducted by Richard Easterlin concluded that albeit rich people are happier than their poor counterparts, rich countries are not happier than poorer ones, and they do not grow happier as their wealth increases. The Easterlin paradox explained that only relative income determines one’s happiness and not absolute income. Two Wharton professors, however, have come out to sharply criticize Easterlin’s point of view, claiming that his argument does not hold water. The following sums up their findings. First, rich people are generally happier than poor people. Secondly, more affluent countries are happier than poorer countries, and thirdly as countries get richer, they tend to get happier. The two professors claim that their findings are more substantial because they have access to unlimited data as compared to Easterlin, who had little data to work with 35 years ago. Easterlin has succumbed to these new findings, and he now concedes that people in wealthy…

Debrief on the coaching session             The coaching session went smoothly, and the coworker was cooperative and eager to learn. On my side, I tried as much as possible to apply all that I had learned in class to impact change on my coworker during the coaching session. I extensively focused on increasing the warmth during the coaching session through the use of social intelligence and vitality. As Moore, Jackson, & Tschannen-Moore (2016) note, it is vital as a coach to increase the warmth as it plays a central role in remembering our experience with people, and it makes us more ready to help in the future. During the coaching session, each stage was addressed different based on the needs of the coworker. For stage one, which is pre-contemplation, the central focus was rebellion and reluctance, which I noted the coworker was trying to find with to enact change. What was evident was that he knew about the problem that needed replacement. But considering the situation, it as not possible for him to make any change. For the second stage,…

POWER OF STORY             Chimamanda Adichie is a Nigerian writer born in the city of Enugu in Nigeria. She wrote, “THE DANGER OF A SINGLE STORY.” Adichie came to the United States at the age of 19 and attended college in the U.S.A. When I first read this story, it caught my attention on how stories can be powerful. A story can be influential that it impacts negative as well as a positive feature of a circumstance and case. A story can create stereotypes about culture and rejection. Are single stories threatening the regaining of true paradise? A broad audience has read Andiche’s stories. However, stereotyping is prevalent in her stories. Here the author states, “the single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story” (Adichie 4). This statement is so true when you look around the world today. A stereotype is people’s social categorization. When stereotyping becomes negative, it can lead us to make wrongful judgments on an individual, which encourage…
