Accreditation might be an expensive process. However, I think it is unfair to consider the cost of the process at the expense of the health of the public. Our accreditations improve the quality and safety of health care through the set standards and performance measures that checks not only the quality of services provide by health organizations, but also patient rights. In addition, TJC accreditation helps in improving risk management and reduction since organizations should have established risk evaluation and mitigation measures in place before they seek accreditation. To reinforce this, the TJC walks with the organizations by offering education on good practice as well as professional advice and counsel. To this end, accredited health organizations will be in a better competitive position, providing high quality services and hence leading to a health nation.
