Strategies for Legislative Change The modern healthcare system is laden with a myriad of laws, policies and regulations imposed by various parties in the quest for delivering quality care. These measures can sometimes pose a hindrance to the care providers and the patients in terms of cost and access to quality care. As such, it is paramount to identify such cases and advocate for better policy changes that will provide the patient with better treatments or alternate treatment. For this topic, I will discuss the inappropriate use of Electroshock (ECT) as a treatment procedure for patients suffering from depression. ECT is a medical procedure that involves placing electrodes to the forehead of a patient and then passing electric current into the brain. ECT is a controversial treatment procedure still in use up to date. The significant advantages of using the procedure are that it is important as a choice treatment. Any individual can choose not to undergo the process or to do so since it is never in use as a first-line treatment option. Secondly, the treatment is beneficial in…

In the gathering part, the organization tries to interrogate the community people to know its exact position in society and how they can do to maintain strong bonds with their donors. Leadership, employees, and mission statements are some of the issues identified to affect the business internally. While competitors, the economy, and customers affect it externally. Strategic Sourcing Steps The transition from the traditional purchasing to strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management could take seven steps (Vitasek, 2016). The first step is defining the category and the commodities involved in the sourcing process. The step involves establishing the quantity used, types, and sizes of products involved in outsourcing. The following step is initiating the supply market analysis. In this regard, the manager analyzes the potential suppliers, locally and globally, and the risks that the suppliers are bound to face as well as the opportunities. Subsequently, the manager should develop a strategy that aims at minimizing the costs and risks related to the transition. The fourth step entails selecting the sourcing process to establish the product specifications, service and delivery needs, and the legal and financial stipulations that are associated with the entire process. The next step involves negotiating and selecting suppliers. The stage involves conducting multiple rounds of negotiations to agree on the best suppliers, and it requires a collective effort of a given team (Vitasek, 2016). The final step includes implementation and integration. The step…

Why I Want to Study Abroad in Shanghai, China in Summer 2020 Studying abroad is a dream that every person wishes to attain. With programs such as the High School Summer Abroad program, it has become possible for junior students to enjoy their summer studies abroad, in an environment that is entirely different from what they are used to. As a female junior student from North Carolina, I believe going for the high school summer program in a country such as China, Shanghai, to be specific would create an epic feeling that I have forever wished to encounter in my lifetime. I am beginning a Chinese class at school. Therefore, traveling to China for my summer high school program will significantly improve my Chinese language skills. Although I could just learn the Chinese language from my school, going to the original homeland of the language will significantly boost by Chinese language skills since I will, on day to day basis, encounter Chinese speaking individuals throughout Shanghai, something that will force me to learn this language so that we could be…
how the western rule came to an end in sub-Saharan Africa Group A: Africa: tell me how the western rule came to an end in sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa. What obstacles have Africans faced since independence? During the Second World War, Africans were involved in military service to their colonial masters. They fought together with them; they saw their weaknesses and the tactics that they used in the fight. When they came back, they realized that they could fight the Europeans and gain their independence, and immediately started to fight for their freedom. The process was not uniform across Africa, but different countries got their autonomy using different methods. In some places, the process was peaceful, while in others, it was an armed struggle. In some areas, there was competition, for resources, free labor, and the vented interest made some countries such as the USA to push for decolonization so that they could benefit from the available resources. However, decolonization in most parts of Africa was achieved through a protracted struggle that made the European power to give the…
Evolution Jean Baptist Lamarck’s theory of evolution stated that organisms change during their lifetime, and then their offspring inherit these changes. For instance, he had a belief that the giraffe is a long-necked animal because it elongated while trying to reach leaves that were in higher branches. It thus meant every generation of giraffe had a more elongated neck than the preceding one. Darwin, on the other hand, did not agree with that theory and thus originated the theory of natural selection, which stated that organisms had variations. It, therefore, meant that each individual had a slight difference from the other, and this determined who was more likely to survive and reproduce (Darwin 27). These features were, therefore, more likely to appear in each generation of that species. Darwin thus believed that longer necked giraffes had higher chances of survival as they would reach the farthest leaves and thus the increase of longer necked giraffes, and finally, all giraffes would be long-necked. It is where the phrase ‘survival of the fittest’ originated. Charles Lyell, in his book ‘Principles of Geology,’…
Texas Legislature Should the Texas legislature meet more frequently? Texas legislature should meet frequently. The reason is they only meet for five months per year, thus making it difficult to attend a special session, which is usually called by the governor. The Texas legislature has a logjam and often needs individual sessions of the body. In the Capitol, there is no need for the idea of having the lawmakers meet frequently. Some representatives have filed bills supporting the idea of legislators to meet in off years to make the budget of the country (Smith et al. 2017). Should Texas lawmakers be paid more? Texas lawmakers should not be added salary. The Texas constitution states the amount of money paid to every legislature per annum. To change this amount, constitutional amendment that has to be there, which does not seem to be soon. Salaries paid to legislators depend on the part-time legislature. The amount outlined in the constitution is $7,200 annually. Information from Texas State Historical Association stated that there were adjustments of the legislative salary in1975, as the payment was…
A visit to Manchester This is an interesting debate. If I have got a ticket in my hand, there are various places I would wish to go to, but if I’m restricted from choosing one place, then I will select the UK, especially the city of Manchester. Being a football fan and specifically Manchester United fan, I would use this ticket to travel to their home ground to watch them playing live. I started following Manchester united club back in the year 2009 during the times of Christiano Ronaldo, since then I have developed and loved the club as well. One of my principal wishes in life is to one-time visit old Trafford. This is why, given this ticket, this would be my first destination. First, I would book a flight from my home country to the city of Manchester, after reaching this place, the first thing I would do is make arrangements for my accommodation since there is no one I know at the venue. After getting a hotel for my accommodation, I would start making arrangements for getting…
