challenges in the task we were pursuing
Our team encountered many challenges in the task we were pursuing. It happened, especially with regards to cultural background and language communication. Almost all the group members come from different countries, and our diverse cultural backgrounds has led to disparities in the communication methods. In particular, we are Chinese members, and culturally, we first listen to the opinions of others before expressing our views. We rarely articulate our opinions first. This was also another hurdle that caused the team to find it challenging to follow up on the project. Nonetheless, the leaders of our group respect our way of communication and have the patience to explain to us the details of each discussion. It ensures that we understand the contents of every item. Besides, other members of the group often wait patiently for our final opinions and are willing to have a meeting for our sake to ensure that each one of us understands what has been discussed. Notably, the majority of our group members are not Native English speakers. In light of this, the team leaders often help us by explaining what was discussed in more straightforward and straightforward words. They usually do it by using examples and body language for a better understanding of their point. The approach allows us to more effectively understand what he/she wants to express, and also leaves a positive impact on the progress of our team’s project.
