Introduction

Individuals can develop a sense of responsibility once they are made aware of the value of what is at stake. This is the mantra driving our organization in making a documentary film. The film is set to create awareness among individuals. It is also aimed at making people realize the value of wildlife to our universe. This paper focuses on the challenges of the project, recommendations, performance evaluation, and project closure.

Project Summary

In the wake of changing climatic conditions, many organizations and nations have come together in a bid to avert the adverse conditions getting experienced. A lot of organizations have made selfless philanthropic contributions to preventing the climatic conditions. In a sense, many stakeholders are willing to be part of the campaign to save the universe. Our organization is also taking part in the saving of the world. However, our organization has adopted a different strategy in approaching the same subject. Our organization aims at making people realize the significance of wildlife in our ecosystem. It aims at making people understand the value of wildlife conservation. We aim at developing a sense of responsibility within individuals. My team has been tasked with creating a film documentary that captures the beauty of wildlife and educate individuals on the adverse effects of destroying wildlife.

Project Challenges

Our project is deemed to face various challenges. Among them include:

• Familiarizing with the terrains of shooting. Our documentary is set to cover wildlife from different parts of the globe. That means our crew members shall have to travel to many unfamiliar places, which could prove to be challenging.
• Communication barrier. Many of the places where the shooting shall be done are in the most interiors parts of the globe. Individuals in these places lack conventional communication skills. This shall present a considerable challenge, especially when the crew shall require a guide from the local area while shooting the documentary.
• Our documentary shall be filmed from different parts of the globe. The various parts of the film shall require assembling. This could present a challenge due to the barriers involved in transmitting.
• Relaying the documentary to the viewers. Our documentary is not only meant to create awareness but also as a strategy to gain a competitive advantage in the business world. Therefore, our organization is also aiming at making a profit from the film. Unfortunately, pushing such a film to receive the best views that will harness benefit for our organization is a barrier.
• Suppressing legal, political, and ethical issues. Our film shall take place in different countries. That means that several issues surrounding ethical, legal, and governmental regulations shall be a challenge in different countries.

Recommendations

Despite the challenges faced, our project shall be successful following the following recommendations:

• Paying reconnaissance. Our documentary is divided into different parts. Each part has a team that shall be tasked with filming. Before the shooting, each team shall visit the areas they are supposed to shoot from. Our initial research has indicted all the places we are going to shoot from. During planning, each team was made aware of its sites of shooting. Therefore, paying a reconnaissance shall help them familiarize themselves with the areas.
• Recent technological advancement has come up with a communication application. This application is a medium of translation, especially where two parties with different languages are involved. It is fed with every language and can translate effectively. The use of this communication application shall help our team on the ground in cases where they encounter communication barriers from the people of the local community.
• We shall have different assembling points ranging from the local areas, extending to the main base of the assembly. Each station of operation has been tasked with the specific parts of the film shoot out they will assemble for the film. The assembled parts from the different assembling point then shall be brought up to the main studio for the final compilation and editing.
• Acquisition trade mergers are a very classic way of surviving competition and amassing profits. Our organization has held fruitful talks with big studios to form a coalition in film production. We have teamed up with Netflix, who shall contribute to the editing and distribution of the film. That way, our film shall amass maximum profit.
• Before the film shooting, we will ensure the team is up to date with every regulation in different countries. Each unit has a leader who shall concentrate on the legal, political, and ethical issues in their country of filming. That way, we shall avoid any problem with the authorities from the area of shooting the film.

Measuring Project Performance

Every project needs to be delivered at the scheduled time and the allocated budget. (Naeni, Shadrokh,  & Salehipour,  2011). Sometimes, the budgeted amount gets less than the allocated, which means more has to be added. A competent project manager has every risk considered and should be well prepared for it. Our organization has set aside $1,000, 000 as the allocated budget for the completion of the project, in a time frame of one year. We have every task well planned to suit the budget. Furthermore, the planned amount is set to keep the project going for the estimated time, and some extra funds for miscellaneous expenses.

We have employed the Earned Value Management to track down the performance of the project. Three critical EVM metrics shall be followed in ensuring the success of our project. All these metrics conform to the allocated budget and timely completion of the project. As earlier indicated, the planned value for the project is budgeted at $ 1,000, 000. This is the estimated budget that was arrived at the beginning of the planning stage. The filming and releasing f the documentary is not supposed to exceed this amount.

The second metric is the actual cost. The project is estimated to use a maximum of $100,000 per month. However, it should be noted that this is the estimated monthly cost of the project. To get the actual cost of the project, calculations shall be made on a monthly basis to determine the exact amount of money that has been used. Our third metric of the project is the earned value. Our project estimated to bring about 100% earned value. After the making of the film, we intend to make a rigorous advertisement, for the public to be aware. More so, we want to make a classical documentary film, which shall capture the attention of viewers, and amass maximum value as well as entertainment. That way, our project shall have garnered the 100% earned value projected.

The three EVM metrics adopted shall be used for a more in-depth comparison and analysis of the project performance. (Kim, Wells, & Duffey, 2003). Once all the metrics have been calculated, another essential tool for consideration is schedule variance. This shows whether the project is ahead or behind schedule. The budgeted cost of work scheduled shall be subtracted from the budgeted cost of work performed to indicate the schedule variance.

Project Closure

Every project’s life cycle has an objective. The objective of project closure is to ensure everything has been detailed in the planned order. The project should go as planned and that the outcomes areas needed for the customers. Project closure entails recording the project documents, making final payments, releasing resources, and completing the project. The following are the steps to ensure that our project is done successfully:

• Confirmation of the work. Before the film is released, we have to ensure that it captures and encapsulates every aspect envisioned as an organization.
• Completion of procurement processes. The completion of the project comes with making final payments to every person involved. All the suppliers have to get paid, and the payments documented appropriately.
• Gaining formal acceptance. This is tasked to me as the project manager. I have to ensure that all tasks are completed as required and that everything is documented.
• Indexing and archive recordings. The original copy of the film needs to be saved and archived. The project’s progress needs to be archived for future reference.
• Final performance reporting. This involves relaying every needed piece of information to the management and the stakeholders. This shall mark the end of the project, and the fine copy of the film shall be presented to the management.

Conclusion

To sum up, our project is deemed to be a success. Despite the challenges that we are bound to face, pour team is positively charged and ready for the responsibilities ahead. We believe our film shall be used in helping people understand the importance of wildlife conservation.
