Having debuted in 1941 and also has its primary goal as a medium of selling products, many marketers saw television as a proper advertisement channel( Cho, Lee, Yoo,& Chu,2016). It had a monopoly business in the advertisement industry since it had better ways of visualizing products and elaborate explanation of advertisements. In comparison to other methods of ads, it was better. Therefore it was expensive to carry out advertisements in televisions. The televisions were black and white box-like and were also bulky. In the advancement of technology, they have become smaller day by day. In the present days, they are flat screens which are comprehensive and coloured. In earlier days magazines were used to and had a few coverages of the people who used them in comparison to billboards. They are erected in towns, and many people can see them due to their big size. Increase of urbanization has caused many people to be in cities and its outskirts. Therefore, many people can encounter with billboards every day. Moreover, telephone books are no longer used due to their low quality to advertise goods and services to people.
Online advertising is surpassing the traditional forms of advertising. Having Internet and technological advancement is one of the significant contributions. The Internet has become very cheap, and also mobile phones are widely used. Since mobile phones are reasonable, they become convenient to be used by many. Social media platforms have also played a significant role in this; they have increased membership that becomes easy to advertise. It is cheaper to use an online advertisement than the traditional way. Most people acquire information through online platforms compared to the recent past (Lin & Kim,2016). Therefore, conventional advertising will do away with online advertising shortly.
