“The preconceived notion I had of the South was the complete opposite of the north, but that was the biggest part of my growth as a person. Indulging in every part of the southern culture” said lynch. Who choose to move to the South because he wanted to challenge himself on and off Dr Field. In the South, college football isn’t merely considered a religion, a societal interest or a cultural phenomenon. It’s a package of all. Football is considered something in every country. In some it’s considered as a cultural experience, to other it’s a tourist attraction but to the South football is a religion and Saturday is the holy day. Southern conference football has grown too popular hence attracting funs from all over the world. Therefore it is important to understand the charm that comes with the southern football. This paper focuses on analyzing  SEC football and it’s impact on its fans.

College football in the South is larger than life. The passion for southern football is not limited on material things like financial donations or season-ticket renewal. Rather they are deeply seeded in everyday life. During football  seasons, on saturdayeverything is put on hold in respect for the game, so that none misses the football scene from the start to the end. Couples are actually advices not to plan their wedding on Saturday during this season. Not because the wedding will not happen, but because the invited guest might not attend at all.The southern living article also explains why no southern would wish to die during the Football season. It adds that during this season no one would bother to hurry the dead leave alone plan the burial until the season is over.Football in the South is more like a religion, therefore missing a game keeps one guilty and his conscience judges the serious just like missing a church service..

Everything  in the South is viewed through the eyes of college football even in commercialization of products. Football in the South coast begin at college it begins way back from birth. Little children wear the jersey, helmet and pads with pride and joy ready  to scream for their team. This religion of southern conference football is instilled in them from way back. Children grow up respecting the culture of college football and during the game they grow knowing what to do. Research indicates that some children love school just because of football. Actually due to this love they go to school very early and leave late as they attend to Football classes and practice. They would rather miss a literature class and not miss a football practice.The love for the game is passed on from generation to generation. Parents teach their children to have faith in the game and they grow up believing in the game. Therefore it’s arguable that southern football has grown to be a religion for most not just individuals but families.

“College foot ball has brought me a sense of community that I have found nowhere else except in church and football brings values and morals.” Football keeps working like magnet, attracting people together in the South. Most football players in the South and others feel like family and treat each other as brothers. This kind of relationship and togetherness is only found in families or religion: church, mosque or temple. Where by all members feel like family and the bond grow stronger each day rooted on what brought them together: religion, football. The unique thing is that southern conference football brings together people of different race, age, social economic status and in that stadium they all feel like a family. The cheering, shouting of ones team, the sound of vuvuzela and small flags been blown in the air are a sign of praises for ones team.The atmosphere in the stadium during the game says it all, love, joy ,pride and happiness reigns.

The South obsession with college football is at all time high. Southern conference football fans keep parking the stadium whether the loose or win. Their loyalty for the game is never corrupted. The energy is electric and the South lead the park in fathfull followers. Football has become a new religion for the South. The end of the season is usually exciting. However, for many football players the season never ends. Everyday is a new chance for them to practice for the next season with hope of making it to the championship and emerge number one. Football is part of their day to day Life, everything in their lives surrounds football. Football is their source of joy, happiness and it gives them the purpose of living. While for the southern fans wish the Football season not to end. The kind of joy that comes with this season is unexplainable.The fans praise the Football players just like believers of any religion praise their God. At the begging of any game players also sing their heart out. There is so much resemblance between football and religion through the way football gives the people of the south a sense of belonging and contentment.

In summary the love for football in the South is unique and grows with every season. The southern conference football followers are as faithful and loyal just like followers of Christ. It’s also evident that this culture can never change as it is like a tradition being passed from generation to generation. This culture comes with more advantages than disadvantages as it brings a sense of community, leases to economic development in the South and also promote development of resourceful youths with great morals and values. Football nowadays and from since is more like a religion. People centre their lives in it and agencies to an extent of worshiping it.
