COLLEGE ADMISSION
After my high school graduation I didn’t join college immediately because I had a financial falls down. I had moved from India and I didn’t have enough money to support me in college. I therefore considered getting a job and lucky enough I got a full time job at Crabtree jewelry as sales associate, working 40 hours a week. Frankly, keeping up with the job responsibilities and tight work schedule hasn’t been easy especially since I’m a single parent as well and I had to bust out every effort I got at first to get my life balanced. But with time I started appreciating my work and being proud of the experience I was getting doing the sales work. And that’s how I got fascinated by the business field and decided I was definitely going to pursue business major in college.
The reasons why I decided to pursue business major (business Administration) is because firstly, I love challenges. Business related courses expose you into solving real life dilemma situations or decisions and being able to think of a unique and risky way to get out of situations has always been something I’m happy to do. Secondly, I have a reason to believe that I’m a people person and the course will give me the opportunity to exploit this potential. I like talking to people, debating different point of view, negotiating and feeling like am contributing to something helpful and there is no anywhere else I can practice this better than in a business class.
Before, I have faced financial constraints which have been a hindrance in my studies. Life felt like a struggle at some point but I convinced myself that I had to do better for my child’s future, for the society that I’m apart of and of course for self-actualization purposes. And that’s why I got a job, saved up and life started feeling a little more easily than before.
North Carolina State university being a community that is by accommodating diversity I sure believe I will be able to contribute to the promote diversity and benefit from it as well. I play basketball regularly and I’m convinced that I have skills that the other student can benefit from in the field. The game has also developed my interpersonal skills and taught me how to develop team spirit something that I can share with other students. I’m committed into working with others in all kind of activities and I too have strong interest in carrying out research that addresses and gives solution on how to solve issues of diversity.
I have a G.P.A of 3.2 and dedicated to my schoolwork. And I need an environment like North Carolina’s, one that believes in accommodating different opinions, has a room for ethnicity diversity and is willing to welcome new and valuable ideas because I would help be exercise my potentiality and give me an ample opportunity for my degree that I’m depending so much on. The school will also give me an opportunity to interact with open minded learners and instructors that will be better for my course.
