College is a waste of time and money.

In her essay, ‘college is a waste of time and money,’ Caroline Bird clearly explains why college is a waste of money and time. She explains to us that the nine million high school graduates are not in school because they are interested to learn. Some don’t even want to be there. Some college students think college is an excellent idea due to socialization. Most of the high school graduates who mostly are young adults are uncomfortable in the presence of their parents, and the idea of going away to an institution where there’s little or no monitoring from the older adults sounds like a good idea.

In the United States, high school graduates are required to join college and get a higher education, due to this pressure some go to college because it’s the proper order of life in the state only a few students are interested in whatever they are learning.

On the other hand, Caroline Bird explains to us that a college education is expensive. Both the tuition fees and the maintenance are costly, Caplan Bryan (2018) argues that knowledge is grossly overrated, and it’s a waste of public funds on education. Most of the countries support students, but in recent years there has been a strain on helping those students attain higher education.

Colleges could be wasting time for students; they are trying to make the curriculum so free that no one feels stressed to do anything. College administrators are trying to make the system friendly to the students, and this could be forgetting that students have to be noted so that they can feel the pressure in the world outside school how there is a struggle for money and survival.

Bird expresses how she has been overwhelmed by the sadness on American campuses because they feel unwanted. It’s at the college level that most young adults feel useless and not needed due to this they feel unwelcome. Frustration among students is real, and alumni of Mount Holyoke once said how sad students are because they think that the courses they are doing are not as helpful as they had felt while enrolling for those courses. It’s a sincere regret that can’t be undone. Some feel wasted and helpless.

However, opinions always defer because some students who were involved in a survey conducted by Daniel Yankelovich said the education is critical and helpful. Students will still have differing opinions about the courses they are taking. Therefore, will always be an argument whether a college education is as useful as thought to be Hacker and Dreifus (2010) writes that the promises of a better life after campus are empty and deceive our kids. Nowadays, a college education does not open as many vocational doors as it used to. Therefore those parents who educate their children so that they can be marketable in the current society are living a lie.

Students should not be forced to go to college if they feel that it’s not their thing. They should be encouraged to follow their passions. In this evolved world, some parents are giving their children a cold amount of cash to start a business instead of going to college. These investments work and provide more profit than the salaries of those college graduates.

In the future, those who invested will live more comfortable lives than the graduates because they’ll have more money and won’t be held down by employment. Employed graduates have reported little and no significant relationship between their work and their job. Even the learned professions such as teachers, doctors and nurses. Could college be wasting time and money? JE Stone, William Brown and Richard Phelps (n.d) explain that most countries strain to provide for publicly funded education financially. Few people go back to school to gain more knowledge about their professions, for example, Theodore White (93-95, 2013) she writes the importance of college design classes which she went back to school to learn about. It is essential to be helpful in a career.

In conclusion, the college has little or no value to the lives of youngsters; this is because college opens a few vocational doors and not as many as it used to, but it’s still necessary. All educational stakeholders should come up with possible solutions to make college education more helpful to the society especially playing a role in the careers students have signed up for. This will encourage students to sing up for the careers they have developed interest in.
