Commitment
Commitment is a person’s obligation and devotion to undertaking a given activity. Once a person is committed to a given course of action, he or she is devoid of hesitancy. Ideally, commitment elicits voluntarily resolve to fulfill a promise or responsibility. The converse is also true, where lack of commitment is characterized by the absence of focus, ineffectiveness, and the tendency to pull back.
In my lifetime, I have had many personal commitments, some of which I have managed to uphold. In shaping my obligations, I have borrowed much from my dad, who is a medical doctor. When I was growing up, I always admired his commitment to our family and his career dedication. Even though his career has been demanding, especially after shifting to the private sector, he ever had time for us. My father taught me that good results require hard work, and one has to take charge of situations to achieve a given dream. I drew one of my commitments from the above advice, and I resolved to excel in my studies, especially my high school days. I worked-hand, although I did not achieve my target, I performed well. I also had decided to be an obedient son striving to make my parents proud. My professional commitment lies within the healthcare field. I desired to walk in my father’s footsteps since my childhood days. Further, I am always committed to ethical practice. Overall, I have managed to keep up with many of my commitments.
Finally, I believe I have maintained my resolve, and I have seen results. My performance in high school, for instance, was instrumental in securing a place in college. Again, apart from a few cases, I have always been on good terms with my parents. Additionally, my career is taking shape, and a few years to come, I hope my dreams will be fulfilled.
