Competitive Programming Activity
CodePSU is an organization that is responsible for competitive programming activities, which are mind computing sports usually held over the internet or local network. The main aim of the organization is to organize a competition that motivates students to perfect their computing skills. The association register participants in groups and involved applicants try to program according to the provided specification. The organization host competitions on a regular basis, and the activities are referred to as sport programmers. The activity is recognized and supported by various multinational software with internet companies like Google and Face book. Participants should be in a group of three to five. My group comprised of three members, and we were required to write source code of computer programs that will be able to solve given programs. Vast problems appeared during programming, and we had to answer them in both mathematical and logic. The activity was inclusive of online judging in online the environments, and the judge’s rank list s shows participants who have the most significant number of solutions through the time given.
For one to participate in the activity, there is no particular selection of individuals. The activity is open to all computing students attending the university. The competition is available for all students, both undergraduate and post-graduate. All participants of the event should be signed to the university and should also report any computer dysfunction since it might impact their results negatively.
The activity happens annually. All winning participants once the activity ends there is the enrollment of the advanced computer education program where there will be more learning and benefits in the program. I would recommend students to participate in the activity since it is interesting to compare competitive programming scores between the various exercises. Also, given that it is a global practice, it is helpful for all students to understand the technological benefits of the activity and its origin. Also, code PSU provides students and participants with a glimpse of the computer science world, and this opportunity will offer individuals future jobs in the industry.
The activity improved my knowledge in computing, and the results were surprising despite the stresses of juggling schedules and daily living, which are factors with which students most encounter. I was always faced with a myriad number of problems, including academic pressure, time demands, and peer influence. However, the activity heightened my acquaintance in writing computer programs that the capability of solving problems has improved. My problem-solving skills have not changed immediately, but my general knowledge of computer programming has gradually increased
What I enjoyed the most about the activity is the unique forms of challenges present in the exercise. They include construction efficient algorithm by implementing it in a suitable computer programming language. Other activities will involve solving problems when given a time frame. A series of factors will be looked this includes the time spent to write the solutions successfully and also the quality and output products in the execution time. My future participation in competitive programming is to join some advanced computing programs which may be offered in the university. This will help me become more diversified concerning my selected education course.
