Organizations often find themselves in a position to provide their employees with a conducive working environment. A program is a set of clear activities intended to achieve desired outcome of a given target group. Therefore, organizations develop a need to create programs effective to every employee. These programs are developed to achieve desired objectives and several targeted activities done by the staff, volunteers and participants.

The first major component of organizational planning is mission and vision. An organization’s mission statement is a clear outline of why it exists and includes goals intended to be fulfilled. On the other hand, a vision stands for a brief picture of how the company should look like in the next five or ten years. The next component of organizational planning is crafting core values (Walker and Avis, 2018). These are the crucial principals that guide employees and leaders in the day to day decision making process. The third component of planning is developing a SWOT analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the organization. This represents pathways which could lead to success of the company or decline of business. Next component is the objectives and strategy planning (Milburn, 2017). These are objectives that need to be focused on in order to achieve the organization’s vision. The last component is channeling funds. Financial analysis is crucial in order to acquire resources even if it means getting potential investors.

There are several successes to planning and program design. First, program design gives the company a sense of direction and in so doing, motivating employees to achieve desired results. Moreover, planning introduces the need for teamwork when people come together. In addition, it also assists identify potential risks and find an amicable solution in time. Lastly, planning offers the guidelines to key decision making within the organization.

However, program design might have some challenges such as unclear objectives that could lead to undesired outcomes. Moreover, there might be inappropriate program design whose general setting does not suit targeted group. Lastly, limited evaluation might be a challenge of planning and program design. Companies often do not use extensive evaluation thus leading to ineffectiveness and inefficiency. All in all, I believe organizations should implement these changes for smooth running of affairs.
