I think the conflict that has risen between the programmers has been fueled by the change of their working space. In the first room, they were free to share ideas with each other as there were no barriers between them, a factor that created strong connections among themselves. However, the current situation is weird to as they have to avoid each other due to walls that separate them. The change has made some of them to start seeing flaws in others, a situation that does not help the organization.

The conflict between the three can be classified as a relational conflict. Although there are other factors that brought it up, the issue draws its origin to the original relationship that the programmers had. The situation encompasses the three forms of relational conflicts, which include affiliation, esteem, and control. The problem has developed up to where it is currently by the staff because they all have issues that fall under one or more of the mentioned categories. Specifically, the content dimension is effected by seating arrangements. Each of the programmers feels like they should decide on what to be done to them, but the team leader thinks that he has placed them in positions that can improve the company’s productivity.

The programmers can be separated from the problem by informing them that there are some performance expectations that they have to meet as a team. They should be informed that after a careful review, the findings show that the expectations were not met. Although this may bring about the issue of arrangement, it will reveal to them about their mission at the workplace.

Sanjay is depicting avoidance style. He does not co-operate with Rosa and Kris as they seem to disturb him. His problem can be resolved through proper communication with his neighbors. On the other hand, Bradley portrays a competitive style. His calmness conveys a message of how he is dissatisfied with his current space although he is a senior member. However, Kris and Rosa are not portraying either of these styles of conflict.

In using fractioning, Martin should have tried a variety of conceivable seating arrangements. Also, it would be useful if each member would be informed that their opinions are heard and taken into account. However, the best solution would be bringing down the walls that separate the programmers and rearrange them same to how they were in the old building. The move would solve the problem and bring back normality.
