Covid-19: first cases recorded in the Congo, Central African Republic and Seychelles.
The new coronavirus continues rear it’s ugly face across the Africa continent with new cases recorded in the Republic of Congo, Seychelles and the Central African Republic. The cases bring the African countries affected by the pandemic to 26.
On Saturday night, the Republic of Congo recorded it’s first case of Covid -19.The victim is a Franco- Congolese citizen , 50 years old, who had just checked in from Paris on March 1 aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight.
The Congolese government has since began tracking possible contacts and has urged all passengers who shared the flight with the victim to identify themselves, as well as any traveler arriving from “a high-risk country” in recent weeks so they can be quarantined. Elsewhere, the Central African Republic equally confirmed its first case of the epindemic last night, after a 74-year-old Italian resident in the country tested positive after a trip to Milan, a city in the most affected area of Italy.
The patient returned to the Central African country on March 7 , exhibiting symptoms of the Covid -19 disease.
The Seychelles ministry of health confirmed two positive cases that correspond to two native people who returned from Italy on March 11 .
In Equatorial Guinea, the victim is a 42-year-old woman who spent seven days in Spain, in the municipality of Móstoles (Madrid), according to a statement released on Saturday by the country’s Ministry of Health.
Since Friday, the coronavirus has since reared it’s ugly head in at least 10 other African nations including: Namibia , Rwanda, Ghana, Gabon and Kenya.
Most of the cases reported so far on the continent are foreigners or locals arriving from abroad, especially from Italy and other European countries.
