Cybersecurity for Leaders and Managers

Question#1

I agree with the author, and the article has made a lot of good points. This is because security will never be considered to be absolute since there will often be some level of risks involved. Therefore, this fact is essential to be initially recognized, and the insider threat is one of the most dangerous threats.

Moreover, according to the article, new employees are deemed to be dangerous; thus, they attempt to incur some risk mitigation (Bonderud, 2020). This involves a continuous keep up of the strenuous process of hiring and background checks. However, some corners should not be cut when hiring the employees, simply because they are expected to be temporary. Every company will want to hire quality workers, in either full time and seasonal seasons. I further think that it was worth noting that the workers were to be treated with the same level of respect, similar to that of full-time employees. This would have impacted them positively since they would have felt welcomed and part of the family. The gain positive attitude among the employees would have helped them in taking pride in their work; hence, they may apply to return to the company as full-time workers.

Question #2

Complying with Tax and Labor Law

A manager should adhere to the tax regulation to reduce security risks associated with seasonal workers. This is because temporary employees are generally subjected to some labor laws and rights that cover full-time employees, such as overtime pay and minimum wage rights, and workplace safety laws. A manager should make social security and tax deductions from their pay.

Conducting Background Checks

A manager should run a background check and drug screening for all seasonal employees. For instance, if an employee would be in a hotel reception area and will be handling money, a manager should take responsibility for running a drug test and a credit check on the employee.

Question#3

Managers can have continuous monitoring and record-keeping to ensure safety in the cybersecurity (Kovacich, 2003). This will help in determining an actual intrusion and recognizing the extent of the damage. This enables a manager to respond to potential litigations appropriately.
