Decision Whether Miss Minnie or the Meteorologist Wins the Case
The meteorologists do weather podcasting based on the current weather nature and give other exceptions. In the given case, the meteorologist gave a 20% chance that it would rain. Miss Minnie has been using the weather reports from the local station for a long time, and they have never disappointed her even once. From the case and the chances are given by the meteorologist that it would rain on that particular day, Miss Minnie would have been right to say that it will not rain on that specific day. Since the weather reports from the local stations had been working for well for all along, then she would not doubt to follow them on that particular day. Sometimes weather may be unpredictable. Still, it’s the meteorologist’s profession to make sure that the report given is accurate otherwise there is no one to be depended to provide useful reports about the weather (Ohring, Tang, & Mariano, 1968).
Miss Minnie has to win the case because the meteorologist reported with higher chances that it wouldn’t rain, but it tuned out to be the opposite. If the meteorologist would have given equal chances in both cases, then Miss Minnie would have not one to blame. The meteorologist becomes responsible for Miss Minnie’s troubles. The advantage of the situation is that Miss Minnie followed the weather report given by the local station, which she has been using to prepare for daily activities for along time. The local station cannot deny that their meteorologist did not report because records on the podcasting are available. They have to pay her for the troubles they made her go through on that day.
