College Comparison
Community Health Services (CHS) is a course I have always wanted to pursue when I join college. I will be joining college soon, and I have found that the course is being offered at Empire State (ES) college. I want to make a comparison of the colleges that offer similar courses related to CHS, which are being offered at ES college. The two colleges that I will be analyzing are Fordham University and John Jay College. Before joining any of the colleges, it is important to understand the specific knowledge areas related to CHS being offered from colleges.
Students pursuing CHS should aspire to be community health mangers. At Fordham University, besides the technical aspects of the course, the college offers planning and organization skills, which are required by managers (Shelley & Thomas, 2016). While ate both ES college and John Jay College, they offer training skills and general aptitude courses. Students pursuing CHS must also possess project management skills and research skills. Research skills are necessary for CHS professionals because they are required to come up with creative ways of solving health issues on a routine basis (Higgins & Benjamin, 2017). The most important thing is leadership skills; health workers must have leadership skills; one should choose a college that will improve their leadership skills.
Fordham College is the most selective college of the three colleges. Students who want to study at the college must meet the course threshold. Fordham college is the best for any student that is interested in pursuing CHS; the college prides itself in research among the lecturers and its students (Shelley & Thomas, 2016). The similar courses being offered at the three colleges are introduction to human service, leadership, healthcare policy, healthcare management, diversity in the workplace, organizational behavior, healthcare ethics, the economic issue in health care, health informatics, intervention for addiction disorder, and, group work practice. Pursuing CHS in any of the above colleges will propel the academic goals of any student.
