Did your team develop a cohesive business strategy before embarking on completing the entries for your decision rounds?  How well developed was that strategy?

Yes, my team developed a strategy for our company before we started making and entering details of our decisions in year 11. However, the plan was not well developed or cohesive and resulted in a few mistakes being made with affected our scores. My team also did not hold sufficient meetings due to the separation of time zones among the members of our team. I was still familiarizing myself with the BSG, and I was therefore not fully comprehending how the plan would work, which I believe was an issue that affected most of the team members. We were not sure of how to use it, and we, therefore, made mistakes. I had only read the players guide once, and I was still trying to understand how it all works. For the next round, we were well prepared and had a well-developed strategy which we hope will change our outcome.

Did your team focus on ensuring your decisions would attain all five of the key goals the board set for your firm (EPS, ROE, Credit Rating, Image Rating, Stock Price)? How did these goals impact your strategic decisions? If you didn’t attempt to achieve meeting or exceeding in all five metrics, which ones did you knowingly sacrifice on and why

Yes, our the discussions we had and the strategy that we came up with focused on ensuring that we achieved the five key goals. We initially did not aim at eliminating or focusing on any of the goals, and we wanted to have a plan that would lead to the attainment of al the goals set. We, however, did not meet them all, but we achieved metrics that were close to the investor expectations. We will change our strategy to accommodate factors affecting our performance that we had not seen in the first round.

How well did you actually implement your strategies?  Did things turn out as you expected?  If not, what types of things went wrong, and why do you think they went wrong?

Things did not turn out as we had expected in year 11. Our metrics did not meet the ones set by the board. This was because we had not come up with a cohesive plan. We were struggling to find the time which was convenient for all of the members of the team, and we, therefore, did not manage to develop a good plan that would ensure that we achieved the goals set for our team. Our outcomes, as a result, were not satisfactory. The implementation of the plan was done well, and we managed to discuss and agree on most issues. However, due to the lack of a good plan of action, we did not receive the results we hoped for.

What were the key changes you made to your strategies and decision entries after your Year 11 results were posted?  Did you change your strategy?  If, so, why?  Did you change the way in which you were trying to execute your strategy?  If so, how

After receiving the results for year 11, we decided to change certain aspects of our strategy. We also changed our implementation plan by holding our meetings more often. We were not able to hold a meeting often on year 11, which has bee changed in year 12. We were also not very clear on the strategy we were using, which also became clear in year 12. The choices that we are making have will, therefore, be tailored towards achieving the goals we set for our team.
