Different religions in the world have different ways of worship, and they have the scared areas they use to worship. Western Wall is one of the sacred areas that is used by the Israelites to worship. The wall is a remnant of the Temple of Herod, and that is the reason it is considered to be a sacred place for Israel. One of how the Western Wall is treated with respect is through walking backward when leaving the wall. This Western wall plays a significant role in Israel is that individuals would write their personal prayers. These prayers would be placed at the cracks of the wall, and they would believe that the prayers would be answered. Also, the wall was used by Jews to express their emotions. For instance, when a temple is destroyed, they would gather at the wall to express their sorrow for their destruction. For example, when the first and second temples were destroyed, they gathered to express their feelings. From the image in the attachment, there are individuals seen leaning on the wall praying. They consider the place sacred for their prayers and hence playing an important religious role. The image shows a woman praying on one side and the man on the other side. This shows that the wall provides a chance for both genders to present their prayers, and it is through prayers they get close to their God. The faithful feel that is taking their prayers to the cracks of the Western provides spiritual relief.
The issue of the sex-segregated places among the Israelites has raised issues. The Israelite’s government has been planning to ensure that there is a mixed-gender prayer space at the Western Wall. However, the Jews demand the freedom of worship n which they should be allowed to express their worship views, and they are opposing the plan. Another religious tradition that is associated with the Jews and the Western Wall is the issue of sex. The women are expected to satisfy their husbands, and husbands are allowed to remarry. This religious law is seen to be oppressive to women as it perceives that women are sex objects. Although there is freedom of worship, there is a need for intervention that would enhance equality among the genders from a religious perspective. The article presented the issue of the temple as an important place of the Jews. For instance, when the government of Rome decided to demolish a temple, the Jews felt disrespected, and they revolted against the establishment of Rome City. However, the Rome emperor managed to drive out the Jews out of the city, took control, and demolished the temple. The lives of Jews were threatened, and they moved out, and later there was the establishment of Israel to establish a religion that would cater to the diaspora.
The Western well, as mentioned above, allowed the Jews to reach their God through oral or written means. The Western Wall is located at a central place for ceremonies such as bar mitzvahs and military inductions. This location would allow individuals to perform their prayer rituals with comfort. Also, the other key factor that is considered when going to the Western Mall is that the individuals should dress modestly. Men should cover their heads while women should cover their shoulders.
