Discussion initial post
The DMAIC process involves defining, measuring, analyzing, improving, and controlling the problem. It is essential in solving conflicts in the workplace. People are bound to engage in conflicts as they work due to various issues such as laziness, incompetence, and lack of experience.
As such, defining, measuring, and analyzing of the matters at hand are crucial in the improvement and control of the issues affecting the firm. For example, in The Depot, Dave and Bowman should have engaged King in discussion regarding the inexperienced nature of Sinclair. This could have helped in the definition of the problem based on Sinclair’s inability to deliver the job as expected due to lack of experience (Karin & Elizabeth, 2007). As such, through the DMAIC, one highlights that it takes sequence to solve a given problem.
As a manager, organizational conflicts develop due to the lack of management to address the issues facing the organization or individuals (McBride, 2015). For example, there were various conflicts between incomplete invoices and irregularities in job delivery in The Garden Depot. The manager should discuss issues affecting the firm with the concerned parties. For example, Dave, the managing director of The Garden Depot, should have addressed the source of problems affecting the firm with Sinclair. However, this could not be simple since Sinclair had favors from the company’s owner. Such could lead to misunderstandings.
After the completion of my course, I will help in addressing organization goals through acknowledging, assessing, and addressing upon circumstances under which the conflict is based. I can achieve this effect by being patient with various parties involved as well as practicing the DMAIC process in addressing the issues. I will also learn to understand that the working styles of people differ (Mitchell, Gamlem & Washington DC, 2017). Thus, I should not allow the difference to interfere with job delivery.
