Discussion Post: Week 3 Cultural Environments

Organizational cultures play a significant role in the success of every business at large. The speaker in the video provided in the discussion ‘why a business needs a new global culture,” categorically states that business is people. This reveals that for the achievement of its set goals, an organization must interact healthily with the surrounding as well as the internal community. The internal community in a business entails the employee and the management whiles the external or surrounding is comprised of customers and the immediate society where the firm is situated. All the components of a business must communicate effectively for a common goal (Daniels, Radebaugh & Sullivan, 2015). The company’s culture guides this as it has a first-hand impact on its running.

Cultural differences in the context of the organizational dealings may undermine the performances of the employees (Anggadwita, Luturlean, Ramadani & Ratten, 2017). It has nothing good than to cause conflict between the workers. It should, therefore, be discouraged from working towards a common goal of the organization. Unity and idea-sharing in any firm can only be attained if every individual can comfortably identify with his or her company. Otherwise, innovativeness is a mare dream without togetherness within any given business. A business should come up with policies that unify the employees for a common purpose regardless of their culture and origin. The higher executive should be at the forefront to challenge any instance of differences among the employees and instead foster equality and a feeling of recognition for all. If that is looked at, the business will achieve highly and meeting the changing needs of the people through innovation and quality service delivery.

I agree that the world has been reduced into a global village, and every human has the right to work in any country where he or she has found an opportunity. Considering that, the companies must implement policies that cover the cultural beliefs for all their employees. The higher executive should be at the forefront of promoting unity by eliminating cultural differences in the workplace. This, therefore, will help reduces discriminations at the workplace based on place of origin and henceforth restrict the employee to work towards a common goal of the organization. Any employee should be respected regardless of his or her cultural beliefs, and his or her norms should as well be appreciated.

It is true to say that the speaker in the video was informative and persuasive. He made several factual concepts regarding what business entails. For instance, marketing is actual, people. Without a society or interaction of people with commercial activities, there is no business. It should be considered that the central pillar of the company above other factors is people who form it. This is simply because a business exists to serve people within society. The success of the business is therefore limited to a good interaction with the values and norms of the people it interacts with, be it customers or employees. Business needs to be flexible at copying with the cultural beliefs of various communities within the world.

Like you have stated in your discussion post, culture is becoming an essential issue of consideration in commercial activities throughout the world increasingly. The main concern is that people are evenly distributed across the globe. Companies are working with individuals from varying nations who have different beliefs and cultural values. It is, therefore, crucial that companies come up with policies that protect the violation of individuals’ cultural beliefs within the workplace. This makes everyone feel well recognized and respected.  Observing the rights of every employee enhances unity and motivates employees and hence high productivity within the organization. Every business work must meet equal rights for all its employees.

Cultural differences are a contemporary topic in the entire marketplace in the world today, as you said in your post. It is concerned with the diversity experienced in today’s global economy. Individuals from varying cultures are in interacting within the workplace with increased industrialization all over the world. Various reasons have brought diverse communities from different origins together. Some of the immediate goals are labor and to certain extents idea-sharing, which has borne the present day innovations in the entire world. This has resulted in what is currently referred to as market globalization. This has made commercial activities to shift from internal to oversees sources of labor and market. The impact is different cultures coming together and closely interacts in business activities. This has shown the need for companies to come up with policies that protect every individual’s perceptions as well as the norm within the context of the business in any organization.

I second you that people should give an insight into how businesses operate in the global environment. The businesspersons should consider that commercial activities have evolved dramatically in the perspectives of global communities. The survival and success of a venture lie in its flexibility to encompass the various cultures existing in the world. The fact that labor is not limited to boundaries is a good reason that the international market should put into consideration. It is, therefore, necessary for businesses to be up-to-date with the expectation of the global society for the success of their operations. This means that it is the highest time that companies should strive to be universal.
