Drone Regulations in the U.S and U.K
The aviation industry is continually revolutionizing with the new inventions as well as the incorporation of technological devices in the sector. Drones, also referred to as unmanned aerial vehicles, i.e. UAV’s are the latest technical equipment to be added in the above class of mechanical toys in the aviation sector. The drones have increased as well as received a quick market response due to the diversity of operations that they can perform. The drones are controlled from a remote location and can be used to gather ay form of data in most terrains.
As a result, there are regulatory rules that have been developed in the U.S and the U.K that are aimed in ensuring that there is the observation of proper rules and regulations in the operations of the drones. In the U.S, the primary role is the registration of any drone with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), whether for private, recreational use or for public purposes (Schweiger, 2014). Similarly, in the U.K, drone users are also required to register their UAV’s and also pay a fee of 9 euros to facilitate the maintenance fees of the regulatory authority.
The rules in the two countries concerning the registration of drones with the respective bodies is essential in the sense that it enables the regulatory authority to come up with a management approach for the drones and also helps in other aspects such as security, privacy, spying among other social wellbeing issues that the drones could operate in violation if left to run unchecked. The outlined rules are therefore essential in ensuring that regular social activity goes on uninterrupted thereby promoting effective use of the machines while maintaining public and the government’s interests at hand.
