DV Qualitative Method
Propose a Qualitatively based study based on your chosen area of interest (domestic violence and intervention programs). How might you design a valid, qualitatively based study, which would help others better understand your topic? In your proposed study be sure to identify: 1. What would be your specific research question? (mine is: how effective is cognitive-behavioral therapy for domestic violence offenders/abusers?) (also: mainly looking into male offenders, but can also mention female offenders) 2. The specific qualitative methodology, which would be used in the research of the topic. How would the disadvantages of the methodology be managed? 3.Would the focus of analysis be on literal text analysis, reflection, or interpretation? [unique_solution]Why? How would this choice add to the body of knowledge on your topic? 4. Specifically, identify key points for each of the fundamental stages of qualitative analysis. What tools and processes would you employ to ensure that you collected accurate results? 5. How might you employ Ethnography, Content Analysis, Narrative Analysis or Case-oriented Understanding in the exploration of your topic? Respond by answering each of the questions individually. The paper will be graded on content as well as organization, grammar, and mechanics. Be sure to cite the research study in APA style including introduction, headings, and conclusion. I have included some articles that may help. I have also included my problem statement to get a better idea below.. Domestic violence (DV) is a crime against the person and it has increased over the years. DV does not discriminate against its victims. Victims of DV vary upon age groups, gender, race, education levels, economic levels, cultures, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religion. Violence in relationships occurs when one person feels they are in control or have power over their partner. Though DV is mainly associated with physical abuse, it can also be in the form of emotional abuse, which exhibits control or dominance that can cause psychological trauma and health problems. About one in four women and one in ten men experience some form of DV in their lifetimes (“Preventing Intimate Partner Violence,” 2019). An increase in mental health problems and engagement in delinquent and criminal behavior can be seen in many DV victims, in addition to, becoming subsequent to victimization again (Iratzoqui, 2018). After an arrest is made during a DV case, courts often mandate the offender to attend some form of an intervention program. Addressing this problem will help understand the factors that push people to commit DV, including determining how to properly evaluate and correct abusers behavior throughout the intervention process. Intervention programs have a method in reducing the recurrence of abuse by promoting healthy, respectful, and nonviolent relationships. Not all intervention programs or practices utilize the same approach, therefore, results will vary. The aim of this research is to investigate effective intervention programs suitable for all persons, regardless of social and cultural factors. It will identify the best practices through case studies and literature review. References: Iratzoqui, A. (2018). Domestic violence and the victim/offender overlap across the life course.
