This article provides a historical background to the establishment of the Electoral College. The country’s founding fathers were faced with a difficult question as far as the election of the president for the United States is concerned. This is because the country was faced with the problem of suspicion between the large and small states and a small population spread across a large geographical area, among others (Kimberling 1). The article would be relevant in assessing the reasons for the existence of the Electoral College as well as how this approach to electing the U.S president has lost its value over the years.
