The Wall Street Journal has established some interesting facts about Google and the information they provide. Likewise, the information is still a new concept to me as a party. First, their search algorithm has been deemed to favor the well established businesses over the upcoming ones. For instance, Google often seems to feature Amazon and Facebook more often on their site than other pages. Secondly, they manipulate their search engines by making routine adjustments to the site and the information provided in their page. Thirdly, they have blacklisted some certain pages or sites from publishing or sharing content on their page. It is a move that is not similar to the US regulations since the information provided by the blacklisted pages are not against US laws. For instance, the laws that protects its citizens from copyright infringement and any form of child abuse. Finally, the organization has also that controversial topics such as immigration and abortion are filtered or engineered to some level.
Generally, the article also relates to business ethics since the organization lacks integrity. According to business ethics organizations should work with integrity and the right level of moral standards (Stephen & Kurt, 23). The idea of good business standards is trustworthiness and honesty to the public. However, Google is not honest or trustworthy when it comes to conveying information to the public. Perhaps, they should consider re-evaluating their business standards and policies.
